View Full Version : UKreg.com and domain name problems

Hi ya,

I have a client who has several domain LTDs for his site (monkeehub.com/net/co.uk/tv/biz) and last Friday he changed the DNS records for all of those sites to my DNS details.
Usually it takes 12-24 hours (from past experience) for the domains to progagate but almost a week later and the only domain working is monkeehub.com.
All the others are still pointing to their old server even though all of their WHOIS details are pointing to mine.

Anyone know how to get this fixed or where the problem lies?

My server's DNS entries are
ns.dvd-critic.net
ns2.dvd-critic.net

All of the domains should point to 209.51.143.126. Monkeehub.com is the main domain and the others are 'parked' ontop of it as done via WHM.

James,

Maybe a couple of things...

The .biz is showing "inactive" in a whois, has no nameservers listed. Get your client to check the nameserver info in his UKReg account. If they show no nameservers, and he gets an error message when trying to add nameservers, he'll need to get UKReg support to add the nameservers (he needs to use the support request form on the UKReg website). We had a .biz domain like this recently: my guess is that UKReg is having a problem updating the .biz registry.

The .tv domains (see www.tv) is showing nameservers as:

ns1.fast-hosts.org
ns2.fast-hosts.org

which again doesn't look like what you want unless he's using UKReg forwarding to go to another of the domains?

The other ones which do have the correct nameservers, suggest you check the DNS zone files for the parked domains in WHM. You may well find that the IP listed is not 209.51.143.126 -- WHM has recently changed the way it does parking, and if you park a domain before the nameserver change has propagated it will put the old IP address in, not the new one! You can just edit the zone file and put the new IP address in and all should be fine.

Fun being a host, ain't it :D

Thanks :)

I just saw the parked domains as having the wrong IP addresses so I changed them. Now the .co.uk/net/com are working but the biz/tv are not.

When he tried entering the name servers for .biz it wouldn't resolving my nameservers (ns.dvd-critic.net and ns2.dvd-critic.net) so they wouldn't change.

Will advise him on this info.

Yup, this is the UKReg problem (hoped they would have fixed it by now!).
