RackShack (http://www.rackshack.net) or TranXact Global (http://www.tranxactglobal.com) ?

RackShack has a $99 month end setup special (on their $99/month Durons) and TranXact has a $129/month special on their Duron with no setup fee. I know TranXact has cheaper addons (hard drive, extra ram), however RackShack seems bigger (but that's often not better).

Any experiences from people with TranXact, I haven't heard many things about them? Which would you choose and why?

Thanks ahead of time for you replies! :)

I have no experience with Tranxact too.

I did own rackshack virtual account for a while, speed is quite good.

I think the network condition of rackshack is better than Tranxact's multihomed network. emm.. just heard that rackshack's support is suck. but I dont think it will be problem.

I will pick a server soon . And I choose rackshack :)

:fairy: anyway , rackshack have 400G bw but Tranxact only have 300G :)

You know what i did for my dedicated hosting. I looked threw all the tophost.com type of site and i ended up getting hosting from a company that is gorwing. I didn't want to go with a big company because i had bad experience with them. So far so good. I am very happy to have went with a smaller stable company.

TranXactGlobal uses better hardware in their servers, specifically faster 7200 RPM hard drives. They also seem much more eager to please if you want something other than the stock offerings, as you observed. With Rackshack you get what they are offering. With TranXactGlobal you can ask for x y and z and they'll give you a price to put that together for you.

All I need it they reboot the machine fast when it's down/overloaded. And they do it.

Also, their billing is crystal clear. They have an online system for you to check all bills.

Rackshack does have a top of the line web interface for the accont. Marvelous.

well, 400GB of bandwidth will only do you good if 1. you will actually use it all. and 2, if your server can handle it.

I'm pretty sure both of these companies can provide servers that will obviously handle that amount of transfer, but you have to decide that you will actually use the 400 over the 300 for it to be the deciding factor

I also like the fact that tranxactglobal.com includes an APC remote reboot port so you can reboot your server yourself without any waiting - or would you rather have a tech do it in case it doesn't come back up?

Here's my take.

I have 3 servers at rackshack, 1 at tranxact.

I'm putting all the new servers I bring online in a local colo, I dearly want to move the rackshack servers, I have no plans to move the tranxact server.

Faster response to problems, a smaller friendlier "hey we know you by name" kinda outfit. Bigger isn't always better in my book.

Go tranxact, just one man's opinion.

I have no experience with tranxact, though i may buy from them. having APC switch is definitely a +

I just wanted to say RackShack is not bad at all.

Yup, I think the server for both companies will be ok to handle the traffic.
Some people just notice that rackshack provide 5400 rpm harddisk but not 7200. But in my experience, it is almost same speed just based on 400G traffic/ month.

:)

About bandwidth.. emmm.. never enough for me because I always can find way to waste that :)

For customer services? I like to work out all the things by myself. If I make mistakes and face trouble, next time will be ok for me

I paid, and I learned.

Last , I think cogent will be slow sometimes for foreign clients, such as China, Korea...

They advertised the reboot switch but do people actually have access to it yet? I was reading some posts that the reboot ports were not online but yet was advertised with the server.. not there would be a delay. Anyone used their reboot port yet?

Hopefully you've not broken the server enough to need a hard reboot already. :)

I don't have a server there... I'm just wondering from people who do, they have access to a reboot port as advertised they would get?

I've got a server there and they offered to set it up but I told them to use it for someone else, as I'm not crashing the server.
