Their website talks, which is interesting. On the other hand, the name always makes me want to hit the john.

I've had 3 basic questions sent to support that they've responded back to within 2 hours, sometimes within minutes.

I don't have my site up with them yet, it's still on the old server, but I'm happy so far...

I signed up an account with them several days ago and the loading speed was pretty good. And then I found I didn't have the DNS control as they mentioned on their website, so I emailed them at the last Sunday evening. I didn't get any replies.

Then I tried again this Monday using their LiveHelper and then found no operator was available. I sent them a message with the LiveHelper and then found it returned with server not abailable message.

At the same day I found my site is not available and it has been down for three days (from Monday till now).

I don't know what's going on since nobody replied my message. But I did a search and found some people were complaining the downtime.

So, my suggestion is: You get what you pay for. It's cheaper, but if it's down all the time, there's no value to stay with it.

Having been down for more than two days, my site is back.

But the CGI doesn't work (or I got something wrong?) The browser open the .cgi as a text file.
http://www.erotic.mu/~chinese/cgi-bin/ikonboard/install.cgi

And their "livehleper" is still not there. The operation time is to 10pm pacific time and nobody has been there for at least three business days.

I just checked email and still not reply.

Does anyone else hosted with them? Do you have the same or other problmes?

Thanks.

American slang for 'did you look in the toilet?'

Which when you take away the sarcasm and the insinuation, it means.... Are you sure it (the business) hasn't gone completely (flushed away down the toilet)?

And that was your lesson for today... :D

And BC the teacher got it wrong... lol. I just meant, did you look to see if they were in the john, is all.

Metaphorical references just aren't my thing, you see.

I just checked my site, hosted by urgenthost.com, and found this:

Sorry...
We are currently having technical issues with our websites. This issue is soon to be solved.

It hasn't taken me long to discover that I made a wrong decision in going with this host.

I'm outta there...

Somehow I sense a lack of, uh, urgency, here...

Obviously from reading this thread a talking website doesn't necessarily mean a great product--although that voice is pretty professional sounding. I've seen a couple of companies that specialize, if anyone's interested: websiteaudio.com, or for that "Austin Powers" sound, soundfusion.co.uk.
Cheers!

I would not what my website to talk .. I would be afraid of what it would tell my customers about me :(

Hi all,

I signed up an account several days ago and the service had been down for three days and the support didn't exist.

Can I still ask my money back? Or can I just file a dispute on the charge on my CC?

Thanks.

BTW, I just cancelled the account with it.

E-Bird,

How did you cancel? The cancellation page does not work for me, and now they're not responding to my e-mails.

Earlier today I was on HC and someone asked my "tell me why i should sign up with you instead of urgenthost" and I went to their site and my response was "our website doesnt talk". I've always that talking websites were really really stupid. just my two cents. This wasnt supposed to be an ad or anything, just strange that two conversations were going on at the same time about a hosting having talking on their main page.

[i]talking websites ... really really stupid.[/B]

You know, I don't have anything particular against talking websites... but considering it slows down a site that should be selling speed, and basically says absolutely nothing (at some length), I gotta wonder who thought this one up.

Dear UrgentHost,

As an UrgentHost user, I thought I would put in my two cents. Last month, UrgentHost.Com was down quite a bit. As a matter of fact, the site that I have hosted with you was also down. On eleven separate days my site was down, and on two of those days it was down ALL day.

Of course, I immediately contacted your support department. At least, I tried to. Your web site assured me of a prompt response to my e-mail, and yet I am still waiting for a response from you. This is not considered prompt where I am from.

Oh, yeah. Where ARE you from? Your street address in your DNS records indicates you are located in Waycross, GA. Your telephone number, however, is in Illinois. When I attempted to contact you at this number regarding my site, it turned out to be a fax.

It doesn't add up. To date, the only thing you have done in an "urgent" manner is bill me.

So. I applaud you on your site design skills. Bravo. Well done. It is a shame that it's just a lot of smoke. The service behind the pretty pages leaves much to be desired.
