Hi:

I'm using a raq 3i w/raq 4i OS and I'm having email issues. I can recieve and send email using my IP address only. When I try to use mail.mydomain.com, it won't work.

I had a client who stated that if he uses neomail, his mail comes back. I do have an MX record setup, so I know that is not the issue. The only thing is when it ask for mailserver, do you put www.mydomain.com, or mail.mydomain.com, or is it better to put the ip address?

Thanks in advance for your help.

For mail server for the domain in your raq setup for the site (control panel)...
you should just put in "domain.com"

Dont put mail.dedede.com or www.deded.com
just simply domain.com

If you have your DNS setup properly, then there should no problems....make sure you put PTR records also.
Just double check your A Records for MAIL (Host) and make sure the MX is pointing to the A Record MAIL.

Thanks for the help.

I also can't ping mail.mydomain.com, it comes up as unkown. Now I can telnet my ports 110 & 25, and I get good results.

Help or advice is greatly appreciated.

it sounds like an error on your dns...

mail.yourdomain.com ----> yourdomain.com (MX)

yourdomain.com ---> IP address (A)
www.yourdomain.com ----> IP address (A)
mail.yourdomain.com ----> IP address (A)

On your raq (virtual domain settings) verify the email server's aliases:
yourdomain.com,mail.yourdomain.com

is it correct?
