Not me, but I've come to the conclusion that when it's free on the Internet, you more often than not get what you pay for.

I use that. It's really not bad actually. I did have to do alot of customization to the scripts, but it was free so you can't expect much. Try it out if your looking for a billing solution.

Thanks,
Brandon

Cool :)

But, are you sure it is safe? And, how do it process the credit card and send you the money?

brandonk

It just sends invoices via email.

Hmm...

So how you get your money? And who send you the invoice?

Can you explain more detail about how it works?

Well you get what you pay for and considering that they can't even configure their own script to run, I'll stay away. Just my 2 cents.

I think he means customizing the layout etc... Not configuring the script to run.

Actually alot of things didn't work within the script. But I send out invoiced via email and I customized the email to have everything I want. Included in the email is a link to my secure server so they can pay. It allows you to add accounts, you can send welcome messages to new accounts with instructions on gettin started, and then bill them each month.

Thanks,
Brandon

I know this has been brought up before, but you might consider using a system called "freeside". It's open source (GPL) and writtein in Perl. It seems to be a viable solution for anyone looking for a free billing system.

Well, I checked out FreeSide, but it looks like it needs cybercash or authorize.net software to process cards, is it?

And mrtec looks great, so except the $109, what else I need to pay?

Anyone tried quickcommerce's weblink ?

And anyone about the pricing for weblink? I can't find it on their site.

Billing Manager Pro from MRTEC (www.mrtec.com) is a GREAT program for SMALL webhosts/isps.
BurstNET™ has used it for 4+ years.
It offers everything that you would need except:
1. Automation with signup scripts
2. Automated charging of credit cards...not even by text file export to another charge program.
3. Lack of fields for some data...(ie no...credit card field, etc...)...which could be crammed into the notes field if needed.

IMPORTANT: The absolute biggest issue with this program is that is is a complete headache to move to another program. They only recently integrated import/export features...and only for customers/products. No way to export transactions, or other features.

BurstNET™ has been researching replacements for months.
We have pretty much decided on Rodopi (www.rodopi.com), which does pretty much anything and everything, and can be customized. A little pricy, but slightly cheaper than most of the competition of "real" ISP billing programs.

They have a 100 account demo I believe.
Check them out.

Agreed 100%. When we moved from FF Billing Manager (we used it for over a year) to our new system, there was really no way to export the data. It all had to be dome manually.. and took nearly a week to complete. I truly feel sorry for whoever will be copying the data over to the new system at BurstNET, as they have many more clients than we did. You have a long and grueling task ahead of you. :D

To anyone out there who is considering this program, I would suggest that you find a more scaleable solution to begin with. This way you won't have to worry about finding a more suitable solution once you begin growing rapidly.

Just my $.02 :)

What would you recommend Matt?? I've been searching as well, and still have a long way before I decide. I'd use billadmin, but it doesn't support my merchant account. Unless of course you would like to integrate support for it?? :)

BTW Matt, I haven't been able to access billadmin.com for a couple days now.
