Hey there,
Can anyone tell me whether or not an SSL cert is "moveable"? In other words, if I purchase a cert to use with a domain on one server, but then move the domain to another server, can I move the cert along with it, or will I have to get a new one?
Thanks,
-Bob

If the new server is running the same ssl software it should be no problem in my opinion. But I don't think it's possible to move a cert from a server running, let's say, apache + mod_ssl to a server running apache + raven ssl.

A host I once used moved me to from one server to another, which had exactly the same configuration as the first. I can't remember if the cert was just copied across or if I installed it again, but it worked for a few days. Then it didn't.
The host blamed it on the move, which I didn't think made much sense, since it worked fine for a while. I suspect they screwed up and just didn't want to admit it. I ended up having to get another one.
In other words... I don't know. Helpful, aren't I? :)

i dont think the ssl will work on a different server
you probably need to contact who you purchased the ssl through and give them a new server key and they will probably have to regenerate a new ssl key for you
The cert can be moved to a different server, as long as you have the cert, the key, and the same ssl software running (see T_E_O's response). I have done it a number of times with no problems.
