Thanks to everyone that responded and/or emailed me on my previous posts, your advice has been a TREMENDOUS help!!

Now, I've narrowed my reseller options down to what seems to be the top two favs here, VO (Ventures Online) and SplashHost so now I want to hear what the experts recommend.

Based on everything from support, reliability, uptime, price, control panels, and every other major factor, who's better?

VO or SplashHost?

Of course there can be no "correct" answer as it is all just a matter of personal opinon but that's what I'm looking for, the opinion of you, the experienced resellers!

(Hopefully I'll do this poll thing correctly but if not, just reply to the post or email me...your choice)

TIA

I wouldnt say there was a "best" because we both offer different types of reseller plans so you should go with who best fits your business plan.

Thanks Alan...I totally agree that it's all a matter of what you're looking for and what your needs are but I just wanted to see if anyone would say "I'd go with VO for this reason..." or "I'd go with SplashHost for that reason..."

I don't think anyone has anything negative to say about either your of VO so please don't take my little poll as anything personal. I'm just trying to make the most informed decision I can which I think is a good thing for any reseller to do.

And besides, you're in the lead so far...lol!

Trying to compare the two is like trying to compare, umm.....
McDonalds & Burger King, they are both good, but one is fried and the other is flame broiled.

There are some key differences that should help you make your decision.

They both have stellar reputations (support, reliability, etc.), but VO is a larger operation with a longer track record, but you won't get that personal support that Alan offers with SpashHost. I also suspect that VO may be less flexible than Alan.

The plan-by-plan vs. bulk is the obvious difference. This, alone, may be enough to base your choice on.

The one feature difference I have found in my search is that SplashHost offers a choice of skins for CPanel, while VO has only one. VO will load any customization you make for $50. I don't know what, if anything, SplashHost would charge for loading a new skin.

It really is impossible to be 100% sure of your decision before actually living with it for a while. Besides, things change all the time.

P.S. I did not vote in your poll, since neither is "better" at the moment.

I generally support bulk reselling so obviously my choice is SH. Add some great support and high flexibility and reliability (also strong points for VO).

For the track record Alan is well known on these ... <<Ventures>> ;) also VO has a great reputation.

Good luck ;)

Decisions, decisions, decisions!! Well, VO has the votes but all the posts seem to point to SplashHost.

Here's the thing I'm still a little foggy on...what's the big diferrence between plan-by-plan vs. bulk reselling?

Do I have to buy a new "plan" everytime I get a new client with VO? I'm assuming that's what plan-by-plan means?

If I went with SplashHost, I'd just buy the bronze package and I'd be good to go until I reached my 60 domains? I geuss that's what's meant by bulk right?

TIA

Well both are great companies with great support. I found that ticket times are answered faster by VO. The difference between plan-by-plan vs. bulk reselling is this. If you resell plans, then you cannot customize any plans to your customers needs, as the plan is set in stone by the host. Whereas if you bulk resell, this allows for more flexibility. As Alan already commented you should choose which host best accomodates your business plan. Yes, with VO you have to buy a new plan everytime you get a new client.

In my opinion, if you are going to host a lot of small clients then go with Alan 100%, but if some of your clients will need a lot of bandwidth and space, then go with VO.

Hope this helps
Steven

Is it just me or is SplashHost down right now? I haven't been able to pull up his site for the past 30 minutes and even a ping of his site timed out on every request. That's not a good sign and could practically make my "who to go with?" decision for me.

Someone tell me if I'm wrong!!

I new this was going to get mentioned sooner or later, this is planned down time, getting an additional drive installed in that server. Its taking longer than expected though, hardware conflicts or something like that.

I confirm what Alan said but also that all other servers are online now.

I was curious like Alan when it will be on WHT.
