No , planning to offer > meaning , in the next few weeks or so ...
However we'll see how the interest in the server / price goes before i can guarantee anything
.::DefCon::. 03-26-2002, 12:13 PM I understand. Sorry.
I know how hard it is to start up something new, believe me. ;)
Good luck! :)

Yes .. i'm currently looking into dedicated bandwidth providers ....
I've looked at Cogent - not sure how much they charge for an E-gig ...
I was going to look at Yipes maybe .. until i noticed there going bust ....
Internap is a maybe .....
... probally stick with Cogent and see how we go before invest some serious $$$ into any good DS3 lines :D
adamhunter 03-26-2002, 12:20 PM I have had some offers on some 18.1 GB SCSI drives ....
I could probally offer
same specs as first post ....
but with 2 x 18.1 GB SCSI drives .... instead for $179 per month + $250 setup fee ...... but is it worth it
Hi!
I'm interested in your server. Send me a mail as soon as you have more information.

Even though Yipes filed for Chapter 11, they still have a great network and good pricing. Much nicer network than Cogent :)

What control panel is it?
panopticon 03-26-2002, 06:23 PM The server looks like a great looking machine. I also really like that you're offering SCSI drives as an option.
But ...
the deciding factor will be whether you have a good network. For example, no matter how good your servers are, I would not consider going with you if you had only a cogent connection, or for that matter, only one connection without an equally good failover line.
I would also choose a network like DV2 which uses Aleron bandwidth rather than Cogent for much of the connections since in my limited testing it seems a bit faster, not to mention their lightning fast link to Quest. The server is a good 50% of the equation, but you connections will make this either a 'really great' deal or an 'almost good' deal.
panopticon 03-26-2002, 06:25 PM loads of mod_* available

Why does this matter on a Dedicated server? Can't you install whatever you like? Or is it just that it's already setup this way to presumably save time? As far as "loads of mod_* availble" isn't it better to complile only what you're going to use to keep things fast and lean and trouble free?
1 IP address
Why so cheap on the IP's?

We will install whatever you like within reason .....
We recommend installing mod_gzip along with a few others and will do that free ...
Why only 1 IP > Well if you have REAL reasons for more that is ok ... there will be no surcharge for any other IPs you want with VALID reasons for them

 Well as for adding other connections .... to get a OC3 or OC12 link to Qwest would cost quite alot of money ... as where we can get a E-gig to cogent for little under $25,000 a month and OC-12 to qwest would cost alot more .... however we're looking at adding a E-gig to level3 also ( as the main connection )
So there is plenty of bandwidth available at all times ... and you guys would have to pay more than you should for it ;)

Have you got any idea how much it would be per month for an E-gig

Wouldn't someone need 3 right from the start, or minimum of two to setup name servers?

No ... not really ... However if the user did want 2 more IPs for nameservers .. they would get the 2 more IPs for nameservers ..

I know it's not technically necessary, but every one wan't the 'standard and professional' appearance of having two name servers to give their customers.
And like everyone else, we are waiting to get more info about your network :) It's apparantly unique and hard to figure out how you're paying for Cogent but not getting Cogent primarily :)

Well the clients we're are going to be looking to get like you  ;) ... will most likely have 2 servers as ns1 and ns2 ... so 1 ip should be ok .... but like we said .. all you'll have to do is ask for more ;)
The network will be made up of multiple ethernet connections inhouse to multiple internet connections.
Here are a list of the bandwidth providers we are looking at :
Level 3
Cogent
Yipes
Qwest
Sprint
AT&T
We're looking into getting 2 E-gig connections to start of with probally via Cogent and Level 3 ... possibily adding a E-gig to Yipes later on ...
adamhunter 03-27-2002, 11:48 AM How does this sound
P3 1GHZ

** = on request ( no additional charge )
*** = Free upgrade when available
adamhunter 03-27-2002, 11:51 AM I forgot to say - We will NOT be doing data backups .... that would be at an additional cost ... However if you have any problems and require a re-installation of everything you got when you got the server ( updated if any upgrades are available ) thats FREE :)
Data-Backup prices are not currently available as we're not sure how much this would cost us to do ... and we're trying to get the bandwidth providers sorted out first :)
