Ok first post here :D please be gentle.

I have the following domains for sale on ebay:

H79.COM
8SG.COM
X41.COM
F5O.COM
F6O.COM
E5Y.COM
OV8.COM
AZ6.COM
FL9.COM
65T.COM
0A1.COM
95T.COM
QC5.COM

MOST of them start at $1 with no reserve and there is a $15 transfer fee (non negotiable).

See my auctions at http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/timechange-dot-com/

Also the following names, not on auction:

SECRETBLOG.COM
SECRETBLOGS.COM

Really hot names. Make me a reasonable offer. :D

Thanks.

If I had extra money i would bid $2 on the F50.com domain.
But the $15 transfer fee is too much for me :(

Sorry mate. If you think $17 for a 3-letter dot com is too much, then you have a serious cashflow issue :)

It's F5o.com by the way, not F50.com

why do you say there is a 15 dollar transfer fee? Why don't you just say the minimum bid is 15 dollars??

Very simple: why do others post a reserve price? Why others start at a higher price? Competition.

The ebay search engine catches the low price, that's what makes people click on the auction link. The terms of the auction are clearly listed: $15 transfer fee - no bids from outside US.

Any other questions about how ebay operates?

I know they are short but why do you think they are worth $17 dollars?
I had a few 3 digit .com's, i was trying to sell them but let them expire because no body was interested.

If you had alpha numeric three letter domains they may be worth something.

Well are you saying that $17 is too much, or too little? I've sold C8K.com for just over $50, others for less. I've sold 4-letter and single word dot coms for thousands. Each domain is worth something to whoever wants the name.

By the way, I am sure others - including me - are currently grabbing whatever you let expire :D

Don't you think it would look better if it said "no transfer fee"
Since everyone knows that a transer fee is just an "extra fee" ?
Just my opinion.

Bellyache,

Thank you for the suggestion. But I have my own business plan :D

What exactly is it that you disagree with? The fact that it's an auction starting at $2 or thereabouts, the fact that there is a $15 fee or the fact that you don't comprehend how auctions on ebay work?

I am sure you are, but would you buy them if i didnt let them expire? Are they worth holding onto for two years just to sell them for $50?

I am saying that just beacause they are three digit domains, in my opinion, doesnt make them any more special than others.

Ok, this thread is growing fast. Mod, I am not bumping this on purpose :D

May I ask, are you asking out of interest or because you think it's not worth it?

Registration price: $8 /year
Selling domain for: $X where X > $8
Result: profit.

The more you sell the more you make.

I am sure you probably make a profit or you wouldnt be doing it.

What i am trying to find out is, are 3 digit, alpha numeric domains really that good.
I once thought so and decided to register some, they are not that hard to get. I managed to register at least 5 expiring ones per month. I had no interest for them and a year later let them expire. The only interest I had were people who had some themselves pretending they where interested so they can figure out how much people ask for them and what prices they should try and sell them at.

To answer your very valid question - this damn IM doesn't work here for some reason - each domain has a value either because of its short size, or because it's an abbreviation / acronym or because it LOOKS like something else, or because some people do like numbers :D

For example, "8" is a lucky number for the Chinese but place it next to "C" and it reads like "Kate". And so forth.

I've sold domains to regular folks, not domain collectors. :D Therefore these domains were worth something to them.

There are 46656 combinations of 0..9, A..Z in three slots, per TLD. Compare this with the 30+ million domains registered and you will see that they are not so easy to find.

Please check the rules of the auction:

1. It's an auction, others might bid
2. Yes, the $15 fee will be added to the final bid of the auction.
3. No, you cannot transfer to your own Registrar right away, it's a new domain and 60 days must pass.

The way I conduct transfers, as soon as payment is received an confirmed, e.g. PayPal, check etc, I create a new account for you with a username and password, edit the domain records to yours and hand you over the ownership. You can then change the password or even resell it if you want. The 60 days 'grace' period is an industry-wide standard across all Registrars, by the rules of InterNIC.

Please, do NOT bid if you don't fully understand the terms as explained above :D Thanks.

so there is really not a $15.00 transfer charge you are just putting that in to make more money.

Sorry, that's your opinion. Next thing I know, I will be asked to hand over domains :D

I know thats how most people on ebay sell domains names but if I was buying a domain name then i would rather have the seller set the reserve price at 15 dollars instead of charging a transfer fee when there is no such thing as a transfer fee.

Bellyache, thank you for your input. Are you interested in any domains? If not, what you are doing is called 'crap-flooding' in Slashdot lingo.

This is a thread to sell my domains and since I am only allowed to post every 5 days I'd appreciate the negativity to stay out of it. If anyone wants to scrutinize it, they can read my feedback thankyouverymuch :D

Of course, he already made money by putting this transfer charge (or whatever he calls it).

The original price was $8 and he put $15 as a transfer charge. He already made 7 bucks. Not a bad idea. :)

Don't be so naive Deb. :D :D :D

timechange,

why are you upset at me?

what I said was that if you already made 7 bucks ... then that's not a bad idea.

Why did you take my sentence negatively?

I am not trying to crash you here. I could careless whether you make money or not. The fact is that your idea to put $15 for transfer was a good idea.

If you make money of that..then good for you. :) but if you don't..then I don't really care, because I am not interested in buying your domain(s) anyway.

I rest my case here. Good luck. ;)

Thanks for clarifying. I jumped the gun :D
I was a bit confused about whether all this questioning - which I duly responded to - had to do with actual interest in the domains or an interest in the reselling processes. At any rate, my intention was to keep the tempers down and instead I shot myself in the foot :D Apologies.
