I have already spent the last couple hours reading posts about rackshack.net but i was curious if the there is anyway i could get a freeBSD based machine?

And also is there anyway i could upgrade the HD to 7200 RPM with a seek time under 9 MS?

Anyhelp appreciated!

As far as I can tell no on freeBSD and no on the 7200 RPM drives. You can get faster drives from www.tranxactglobal.com though, or you could get one of the compaq's at rackshack. Not sure why they don't offer better drives in their whiteboxes... they must be sitting on a mountain of 5400's they already bought :D

Sure, send me $800 and I will take care of it for you :D.

Seriously, this type of question should be posted on the RackShack forums. Visitors to WHT, can't speak for RackShack, and RackShack employees can't sell to customers on WHT.

Yes I have to agree with uuallan. This is not really the place to ask these sort of questions. I would recommend you check out the Rackshack IRC channel as I believe there are Customer services people there most of the time!! :) :)

The Compaq server says is comes with a 7200 RPM drive, it seems to be a pretty good deal.

I recently read of a post where a Rackshack user successfully upgraded their box to Redhat 7.2. This may or may not work for FreeBSD.

7200 I dont think so, I have 4 servers with rackshack and I havnt got a reliable answer about their hardwares yet which currently I dont like, They are good but not as good as they should be. Their chat is not the best chat support: Too crowded and their mostly sales reps.

thats my experience, but overall Im happy and the costumers are happy too. But since someone mentioned Tranxactglobal, I gotta say their the Bomb.

Good luck
