Hi, I am programmer of a commercial website that have average 800+ user online. I am currently using xoops1 but I found that xoops1 already can't handle anymore.

I am consider changing to another cms that can handle over 1000 users online at the same time. Anyone professional can give me some advice ? thank you very much.

typo3 is getting easier to install and you could look at serving static pages rather than dynamic pages.

There is a CSV user transfer module too, so you can transfer users painlessly (or so it says on the tin).

I know drupal has a feature that if say like 1500 users are online it starts turning off features so that the site still functions.

Program something custom--with 800 users online at a time, I'm sure they can afford you.

That Drupal feature sounds interesting, though.

You can try TYPO3 with some perfomance tricks. May be TYPO3 with vBulletin integration (I have done this integration job).
But all depends on your functionality:
- do all users must be registered
- do they use forum
etc

You also need to do stress testing with professional stress testing software.

You could use a modded phpBB, or nuke ... I think. I wish I had that many members :)

Hahaha, Nuke would collapse under eight hundred users.

phpBB should be able to handle it--it can handle Gaia Online.

or use vBulleting software (their portal)

I use ipb and their portal, i know nuke sucks, it has the ability to take down a server, vbulletin is a resource hogg! Phpbb is good, but its not a cms... but there are mods for it though.. also why not test out mambo?

is it that xoops cant handle it or the server hosting it cant handle it?
