If some one were to become a reseller, would that person also provide all the customer support, or would they goto the resellers provider.

EX:

I buy a $100/mo deal at rackshack that gives 50gb storage and 500gb transfer (just for easy distribution, these may not be the exact plan).
I resell to 50 people, at 1gb storage, 10gb transfer. Something goes wrong, or they have questions about anything.

Do they contact me and I have to figure them out (which would be a VERY bad thing :D ) or would they contact rackshack, and they figure out the problems?

They contact you, of course. You provide them with the hosting, you provide them with the support. If something went wrong on your box at RackShack, would you contact Verio because they supply RackShack with a Gig-E? Would you contact Compaq because they supply the boxes? Nope.

u talk to rackshack about your clients problems and then wait for their reply......................and then u use those answers to reply to your client's questions. dats why fast support is SO FREAKING important.

Costumer support is the downside of running any hosting biz its frustrating and it takes alot of time and if you dont do it youre customers wont reccomend you to anyone else

I guess you can allways outsource the support. I'm being reading this forum for some time and looks like there is at least a company who does that, bobcare.com (by the way anyone knows any other support provider?)

What kind of support you may be looking for? Support can vary a lot depending on the nature of problem.

Usually the reselller handles the support. If there are any problems out of your control or questions, you can usually contact your reseller provider for further help.

This would sort of be akin to starting an airline and not realizing you need pilots to fly the plans and security people to prevent bombs on board. Ohh, and just as you try to taxi down the runway, an engine falls off the left wing, and it dawns on you that it might have been a good idea to hire some maintenance personnel.

While rackshack does provide support, those servers are not managed servers (which is something you should look into). You may also be better off with a reseller account yourself just to start out and work your way up.
