View Full Version : User friendliness for hosting panels?

Sorry, I'm new to this board, if this message should be in another forum, please forgive me.

I have a question to ask. Does host sites actually designed their control panel to be viewable in at least both NS and IE browsers? It probably sound stupid, but I have a problem with my host about this.

My host thinks that its a problem with my OS that the control panel loads blank with my NS6.2 browsers, but on the other hand, I think the cp should be designed for major browsers compatibility instead of forcing a user to choose a pre-set one.

Which brings me to a second question, if I may?
Hosts normally have a set allocation for bandwidth and disk space. What files are calculated into these allocations? Does log files count? Why is it that when I dont upload files, the disk space still increases?

I'll love to get these answers from my host, but apparently, they choose to shift the burden of problem back to me and I don't get my questions answered.

Thanks for reading.

About the "user freindliness" question. I would have to say CPanel tops the charts. Or atleast thats what I have heard in feedback from customers.

As a host, I'll say that we have tested our c.panel with netscape, and we don't include log files as part of your quota.

Of course, there are hundreds of thousands of web hosts out there, and they all have their own way of doing things.

I was with Alabanza-based hosting a little over a year ago, and I believe that they counted the logs as disk space, or something, because my server kept showing disk space head upward when there were no recent uploads, emails, etc.

THat's exactly what happened to my account too. Now I know.

I asked them many times, but they never specifically admitted to me about the log files counted into the allocation. Of course, i can't delete the log files thru' FTP and until now, I have no idea how to delete the log files thru' control panel.

Well, Of course I asked my host about it, they just point me to the URL and give me some really general remarks like, "in the control panel, check you delete the log after a number of days." Yeah. WHERE???

Oops. Sorry if this is starting to sound like a rant. I'm not a very satisfied customer with them.
