The cheapest package would be to co-locate a 1U server with 14GB for $42/mo.

This isn't your ordinary Cogent $40 per Mbps cheap co-location. This is real dependable co-location that has real bandwidth that isn't oversold.

Please PM me or post here if you have any questions.

Hi - what are your contract terms? Install fee on co-location?

Are the feeds full duplex 100Mbps Ethernet?

How is GB measured: 90th percentile?

Are you willing to offer "additional 5u for $100" of rackspace? That seems like a fair compromise between your 1u and 10u pricing...

Is there any limit on power consumption, outlets?

Thanks.

Heh,

Cogent oversells their bandwidth? Haven't you read their profile/information? Maybe you should if you're gonna imply that, because thats simply not true. Data centers on cogent may oversell their bandwidth, but cogent does not.

Technically porcupine (by the way im cool with you and cogent) cogent DOES oversell their bandwidth, while they dont on their own backbone, the points where it leaves their backbone are a point of congestion because of overselling. But you simply cant expect cogent to have as much peering as they do network infrustructure or else they couldnt afford a 100mbps at 3000.00 or 1000.00. All in all cogents the best deal for the money, and they have a good backbone.

Hi,
The connections are 100Mbps full-duplex. The bandwidth is measured 95th percentile on MRTG.

Dave

David: Four questions you did not answer:

1) what are your contract terms?

2) Install fee on co-location?

3) Are you willing to offer "additional 5u for $100" of rackspace? That seems like a fair compromise between your 1u and 10u pricing...

4) Is there any limit on power consumption, outlets?

Thank you.

Sorry, I was in a hurry. Here are the answers:
1. The length of the contract is 45 days. If you wish to see the contract, please e-mail me and I will send it. (david@versehost.com)
2. There is a $100 setup fee, but this is waived for all orders from WebHostingTalk.
3. Yes, for WebHostingTalk users we will allow this special pricing. $100 for 5U. (perfect for larger rackmount servers; tower servers will need a $60 setup fee for the installation of the shelf to put the tower on)
4. You will receive one power outlet. There is no limit on power consumption.

hrm, what part of fremont you located in? im in warm springs

im also wondering if you offer reselling hosting, since I cannot afford to co locate. If you do, let me know your packages, and maybe we could work something out?

Yes, we will be offering reseller hosting very soon (a couple of days). However, these aren't connected to the HE.net multi-homed network and are Cogent with a backup.

The plans will probably be:
2GB space
16GB bandwidth
WHM/Cpanel
$25/mo

do you offer licenses for control panels, if so which ones and how much. Also how much for basic server management?

TIA

Sorry, we don't offer control panel licenses yet. For server management, $125/mo. This includes tweaking, daemon/server installation and configuration services, watching of the logs, basic security evaluations, security patching, software upgrading, and more.

Since the reselling account is not on he.net network, can i presume your virtual hosting is not as well? I'm impressed by he.net network !!!

We're not doing anything with/for the HE.net network anymore. This offer is invalid now.

Can you share with us why? Is there a problem with you have found with HE ?

dside443

No, there is absolutely no problem with HE.net. The reason is that we previously provided other hosting services which demanded high-reliability and low-latency such as streaming media. We no longer do this - we are now focusing on web hosting, and do not wish to invest any more in to HE.net. HE.net has pretty good pricing if you have a need for high quality bandwidth.
