I've been considering myacen or aletia for a host, and I can't make up my mind. The plan's I'm comparing are Aletia's Essential plan and myacen's Homestead plan. They both are the same price per month. What do you guys think is a better deal?

...and read Dogma's post referenced to the URL above, because it pretty much sums up my thoughts on them. Especially having been with them since May and most likely the same machine (stingray).

I think I'll go with myacen for a month or two, then go to aletia once everything seems straitened out. How long do you think it will take them to recover?

I have had 4 domains hosted through Aleita since November and over 10 client's domains.

My 4 are all hosted on different servers, all having the same problems... continual down times.

Can anyone recommend a reliable host in the same price range?

I'd like to move ASAP...
Now the problem is getting through to Aleita to cancel my accounts.

No problems with Aletia, but then again my server is a non-problematic one (dolphin).

If anyone is looking for a good host with prices comparable to aletia, I'd recommend hosting4less.com (http://www.hosting4less.com). I've been with them for a year now and I have no complaints. Support has always been very fast either by phone or by email and I've experiences downtime only 3 times in the past year... the downtimes was less than 10 minutes each. -Ves

It's hard to believe all this negative feedback about Aletia after were the "chosen host" on this board for so long. Just shows the power of WHT! All the people that signed up after reading the great reviews 3-6 ago just swamped Aletia, I guess and now they're having a job keeping up.

They must have rammed their servers solid to produce all these problems with downtime that we are now hearing. Hope they can solve all their problems soon.....

Actually WHT reviews become counter productive after some time.
People come here to get unbiased, untampered opinions and experiences of a host and they do get them [and how! :)] but what happens is that the lucky host finds himself inundated with more sign ups than he can handle at a time [and it is not so easy a task to hire an additional tech support guy or another server overnight] and the very reviews that gave him business also cause him problems in terms of spurts in business...

.... and the single server, single admin host is overloaded and the downtimes and thumbs-down icons start flooding WHT again.

I have been seeing it happen to more hosts than one and quite too frequently too

But I cant find a solution to it , yet!

The Host could always suspend new signups if they are overloaded :)

Real simple.
More down then up.
Cost me $$$$$$$.
Had high hopes for good services after visiting here.
Hopes quickly faded after 2 weeks.
Poor support. Slow account setup.
Support must work a few seconds a day.

To be fair to Aletia's support staff, I found them courteous and felt they listened to me. I have NO problems with the support folks, few though they seem to be. I have problems with the company not getting more servers, overloading the servers they have, apparently few support people, and dallying around with equipment that's not working right.

As far as the previous comments on hosting providers being flooded with new customers, I think it's incumbent on them, as it is for everyone in business, to honestly determine what they can provide well, and stick with it. If it means turning away customers until you have staff and equipment to service your customers, so be it. This is the ultimate no black eye policy.

Yes... it takes courage to say no to new business and I have done it when I was a reseller [when I had sold all my available space although less than 5% of it was actually used] and I am sure I will do it if my server reaches 75% capacity

But to ask that of all hosts, while logical may not be realistic is what this fool thinks

I have found that customers appreciate frankness more than any clever convoluted reply

You will make a big mistake if you sign up with Aletia, believe me.
The servers there are so overloaded that they either crawl or are down.
Support tickets are very rarely answered. The server I am on "Scorpion" has
been down for over 6 hours today, Puma is about to go down yet again, and not one announcement from support.
People are leaving Aletia in droves. And I believe they want them to, so
that they can just replace them with other suckers.

I've been with http://jaguarpc.net for about four months. They've been the most reliable host I've had so far (it's my third). I've only had two down times since I first opened the account. Both times the problems were quickly fixed and the users were told what caused the problem as well as what was done to fix it. So not only are the machines reliable, but the administrators are competent and open with their customers.

Their machines and network connections seem to have above-average performance, as well. Maybe it's because they've resisted the temptation to add as many users as possible to any one machine.

good luck.

Stay away from aletia. Nothing but problems. My site on Aletia, www.ballparkroadtrip.com, is currently down. Has been all morning, at least. It's been 2 days since I checked it so who knows. Check the url and compare the time of this message. This is not the first problem i've had. Their support has become poor, their AOL IM is down, I've had a ticket open for a month with no response...etc

yup, you're still down. what server are you on? there are only a couple aletia servers that actually work half the time. i have a site on puma and it's horrible. their support stinks.
