Now, as our hosting biz is really taking off, we have limited time available to work on development projects, so we are considering outsourcing some development. Short term, we'd handle all client interaction. If the relationship works, we would consider connecting a freelancer and the client if the freelancer wanted that.

As far as pricing goes, we will provide the application requirements to a number of freelancers and allow them to propose pricing. This is NOT necessarily to get the lowest bid; we'd weigh our knowledge of the freelancer's expertise to their price. Special consideration would be given to freelancers whose sourcecode we've seen to be well organized, easy to read, commented, etc.
