View Full Version : Billing System
NetworksDirect 06-13-2005, 05:07 PM Hello,
I'm currently looking for a billing system, which allows customers to order online, register domains etc I've been looking at ModernBill at the moment, any suggestions on which software to use?
Help!!!
snJohn 06-13-2005, 05:10 PM Some others you might want to have a look at are WHMAutopilot and ClientExec, although WHMA only supports cpanel/whm. Not sure about ClientExec
Jamie Harrop 06-13-2005, 05:12 PM I have just spent the last couple of days setting up ModernBill. Take a day to get used to it, and have a play, then reinstall it, and it is very easy to setup.
It seems to be a wonderful piece of kit, like any other billing system, the admin panel is a little confusing as many of the options integrate with each other, for example, if X is set to off, then Y won't work, and if Y doesn't work, A and B are not activated.
I have used PHPCoin, Whoiscart and WHMAP in the past, ModernBill certainly gets my vote.
NetworksDirect 06-13-2005, 05:12 PM WHMAutopilot looks good. Im using cPanel/WHM anyway, so that software look's perfect. Thanks for your quick reply. :)
I would recommend ModernBill as well. You can view the demo
NetworksDirect 06-13-2005, 05:14 PM Do you have the link for Whoiscart ?
Please.
layer0 06-13-2005, 05:14 PM WHMAutoPilot is actually quite simple to setup when it's compared to ModernBill. ModernBill is quite bulky for that matter. However, if setup correctly, ModernBill is excellent. It depends on your need, I have seen ModernBill work really well for companies who need it for selling dedicated servers as it allows for customers to add in opt-in settings such as an extra hard disk, more IPs, etc.

Nijhtmajik 06-13-2005, 06:27 PM Hello,
You might also take a look at AWBS(formerly Drams) and Ubersmith. Ubersmith is a bit more expensive but works like a charm.
kaidok.net 06-13-2005, 06:30 PM We use ClientExec. It support Shell, DirectAdmin, and WHM/Cpanel. It is pretty easy to install and straight forward to use. They also have excellent support.
niyogi 06-13-2005, 06:31 PM May I recommend Lpanel as another alternative to all those mentioned here? It's easy to install with their remote installer and is updated frequently.

richardtemp 06-13-2005, 08:30 PM I would recommend Modernbill you can incorporate lots of addons
Spaceh 06-13-2005, 08:33 PM I use WHMAutopilot and i am satisfied with the script.
WireNine 06-13-2005, 08:34 PM I would recommend WHMAP if you are using cPanel.
SniperDevil 06-13-2005, 08:58 PM ModernBill is the bulkiest of the three main competitors, but it's also the most comprehensive, so if you're looking for the ability to generate reports and other useful (and not-so-useful) information, it may just be your match. One thing I'm not too keen on with the "big three" is their standard and relatively inflexible interface, with the "three steps" and the dropdown menus and stuff. If I needed billing software, I might just code my own -- it's free, it's open-source (at least to me :P), and it's as flexible as I want it to be.
Jamie Harrop 06-14-2005, 05:06 AM You may also want to take a look at AccountLab. It is quite new, compared to its competitors, but it certainly looks like it is going to challenge them in the future.

Not enough info.
Where are you located, what domain registrar will you use, will you be doing registration manually as well as automatic, what control panel will you be using, will you be providing services other than hosting and domains that you want to bill for, will you be selling dedicated machines, all of the above retail and then consider all of the above as reseller too, do you need a taxation system in your billing, what reports and facilities do you need - the list is almost endless so recommendations on here should be limited to the links of other packages as no one can assess what is suitable for you
Modernbill
AWBS
Whoiscart
Accountlab
WHMAP
Lpanel
These are probably the most discussed, do a search on the forum for these and you will find plenty of threads - there is however a huge range available depending on your own needs.
