we are having a problem both sending and receiving e-mail
outgoing e-mail returns

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'joe@home.com' on 3/23/2002 7:54 PM
550 5.7.1 <joe@home.com>... Relaying denied. IP name possibly forged [216.152.234.28]
and incoming mail works for admin, but not the new users that were set up under the admin account,

I dont know what the problem is. If anyone can help I would appreciate it GREATLY.

Thanks In Advanced

Did you set it up to relay for [216.152.234.28]? You need to tell it what IP addresses it can relay for.

and incoming mail works for admin, but not the new users that were set up under the admin account,

How were they setup under admin account? user@admin.digitaloutrage.com? Also, if you do not have reverse DNS setup properly on your IP's some SMTP servers will reject your messages.

There are a lot of things that must be configured for email to work. Are you hosting your own A & MX records? Cobalt has a lot of info if you look on there website.

when i try to send email or authorize with outlook i get this error-

There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'mail.digitaloutrage.com', Server: 'mail.digitaloutrage.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] Password supplied for "aminero@digitaloutrage.com" is incorrect.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

I dont have SSL enabled or anything. what is my account name, the username i created for the site? Im getting so pissed, everything is SET EXACT!!!!

Well, um, this one's pretty clear, your login is wrong.

Let's start with the basics:

1) Did you create a user for the site digitaloutrage.com named aminero?

2) You should login as 'aminero', NOT 'aminero@digitaloutrage.com'

finally, to reiterate what hci said,

3) Make sure your reverse dns has been properly registered by your colo provider.

Is digitaloutrage.com your hosting company?

There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your User Name was rejected. Account: 'mail.digitaloutrage.com', Server: 'mail.digitaloutrage.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] You must use stronger authentication such as AUTH SCRAM-MD5 or APOP to connect to this server', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC91

Im using the correct login. just doesnt work. :bawling: :bawling: :bawling: :bawling: :bawling:

From what you posted here, I don't see anything about 'mail.digitaloutrage.com' set up on the server. I'm not sure if you didn't post it, but it is just something that caught my eye.

if Chicken didn't hit it on the head, then look into the secure POP. its says your logging into an APOP server, but ur client is not authenticating correctly. not sure if thats the real cause of it, but might wanna check it out.

Actually, there are a few problems.

The domain is registered at register.com. The nameservers he entered for the domain are dns1 and dns2.digitaloutrage.com which he hadn't set up on the server, nor were they registered.

So what we actually need is primary and secondary nameserver set up on the server, and to know if register.com allows for nameserver creation or if these have to be created elsewhere.

I don't know much about register.com and am not sure they have a place to register nameservers? I also am not sure that I set up nameservers on the RaQ correctly. Any RaQers running primary/secondary DNS on their machines care to take a look at the screen shot?
