Hi,
I am looking for some advice on the best way to manage customer details?
The problem is that I have clients on Hsphere servers, two Cpanel servers and soon to be a HostGUI server.
I am thinking I need some kind of free way I can maintain my customer details.
I have considered and on a few occasions implemented Access databases and spreadsheets but none of these seem to fit my hands.
What do the others of you do?
Particularly the smaller hosts like myself.
Regards,

I write down all client information on looseleaf paper in pencil and file it all under my bed.

We found GCDB to be a good (starting) customer-management tool.

The Laughing Cow:
I've read a few of your posts / questions on WHT and haven't replied as most others usualy have 'answered it for me'.
But - having read your posts, I've got to say you seem to be one of the most 'clear thinking' and positive hosts I've seen. I sincerely hope you do well, as you always put a lot of thought and effort into your work.
No applogies for the post - theres to much 'knocking' on this forum - about time someone received some praise ;)

Thanks very much Eladesor,
I think the reason I like to do everything clearly is because even thought I still consider myself as being part of a very small host I like to have everything organised.
I am a very organised person and if I can find a way to simplify my way of working it is really good.
I feel that if I do evolve into a larger host then my attempt at an efficient way of running will come in handy.
The other main factor is that stress, deception and problems do not go down well with me. I will never offer anything if their is a slight bit of doubt that I can't provide it even if it's a lot of $.
Well thats my opinion, I suppose I like things to be running smoothly.
That was a nice thing to read in the morning :)
Have a great day everyone.

This is where I feel really lucky being a reseller so I can just log into this information at any time, without having to worry about how to maintain it.
Why not just use the client management that is built into HostGUI when you get it? Unless you are needing something this very instant.

Jag,
I understand this is not the place but will this customer managment feature be only for clients on the HostGUI server(s)? For instance Hsphere has customer managment but it's not as if you can add a customer to the list of customers without setting up an account or somthing.
I'll message you, I dont want to break any rules. :)

Hello,
I have tried everything from writing customer files to creating access database (not spreadsheets as I don't know how they work).. Once in the mid-night the cotton curtain caught fire and I lost few hundred of customers information (thanks God I had them as a backup in the cupboard next room :) ) as they were lying in the corner of the room.... Well as for the access database I was'nt feeling comfortable with it... But now I am extremely satisfied.... Continue reading and you would know the reason :D
Well, not trying to advertise but I have created myself a really great script which includes all the features included in phpManager, myInvoice, gcDB and few others. It does all for me, lists the clients to send invoices to, keeps tracks of pending payments, verifies payments for me, maintains hosting packages, clients as well as domains hosted by them. Most of all, I can add multiple domains for a client as well as maintain reseller records.
In future, I am trying to implement a ticketing system into it. So I would have 2 control panels for my clients, one provided by RaQ Appliances and second provided by me so that they can see their invoices, move on to the link to pay bills and then enter the ticket number to confirm the payment against the database.
I would say that I am really happy with the software and would be transferring all my customers it soon. Would launch the software to use by my clients on my website soon :)
E-mail me if you want to see a demo.. Maybe you should write down all the features you need to manage your customers and then hire a programmer to convert it into a program for you. I would say its the best way. :)
Wishing you best of luck for all your devotion and hardwork towards your customers :)
Salam,
