I was thinking about some of the awards I would give for HostingCon.

Best Keynote: EV1

Best Session I attended: Data Center Networking (GNAX) with a close second to eQuest information on Hosted Exchange and Collaboration.

Most Expensive Booth: EV1

Most Shocking: Absense of the Planet and Godaddy from an exibit.

Coolest Exibit: FastServers

Best Party: GNAX (by far) :emlaugh:

Best Food: Gibsons Steak near the Hotel

Coolest Giveaway: RackMountMicro Server

Strangest Thing: Seeing people I have posted with in real life contrasted with the mental picture I assigned to them.

Weird Honorable Mention: The Chicago Airport had automatic toilet seat santitary things you just wave your hand by a sensor and it applies a new sanitary plastic. God I love technology.

I encourage you all to post your awards.

Clark, sense you are delayed, hit the bathroom at the airport and get a picture of those toilet seats.

Aww man... my conference on IT Security (#114) didn't make either list... I gave away iPods and everything!

I really wanted to make your session, but something else I wanted to see was going on. I would love to get a copy of your presentation and maybe we could chat some.

My powerpoint presentation was VERY undetailed. I pretty much put up a rough outline and kept the thing open to discussion and questions which actually turned out great. Lots of people were participating and the session rooms were small enough that it wasn't overwhelming trying to cater to everyone.

I'm sure I'll be back next year... you can catch it then. :)

I am sure if I were talking my presentation would have been the same. A large outline of discussion points. I have made a "here's and idea off the top of my head" post concerning taping of sessions and streaming them.

No awards, but here's some comments for the heck of it.

Ok, maybe its just me, but I would rate the WHT session a lot lower. Maybe its cause I've been on WHT for so long, but it just seemed a little dullish. (Is this a good thing to say on WHT? ;-))

Maybe I was just expecting something different from the session, more then "here's current threads, there's how we ban people" but more on, how threads influence the industry (more then just saying they do), and maybe how a host can be more helpful to people looking for hosting. They did touch on it, but not too much more then saying, be helpful, don't sell.

So maybe it was just my expectations being different then what was presented, but I was a bit dissapointed with it.

Also... as far as afterparties go, Fastserver's afterparty was great! I heard gnax was pretty nice, but I think the "fun" look of fastserver's party was a good move. More then just trying to impress you with expensive meals and drinks. But I didn't go to the gnax, so I guess I can't compare the two. I know I def. made some great contacts there though, even when I was slightly intoxicated from all those shots. (And I even read in PingZine NOT to get trashed, haha!)

Drag-n-Drop's demo was pretty darn cool indeed.

For as much as I played poker at FastServer's, I never did get a brochure or anything. Maybe that was the idea. But it was indeed a great opprotunity to sit with the Veep and Cheifs of the business.

I'm sure I have more thoughts somewhere, haha.

I wish I could've made it to the FastServers party... I was hanging out with some of their guys Monday night (great bunch of guys). They wanted Brendan and I to push our flights back and we would've if we didn't have so much stuff to take care of. To make matters worse it looks like the word on the street is that it was great. :)

I'm also sorry I missed it, but I was just exhausted. I had just spent the previous week moving to a new apartment, then the end of the week moving our sales offices, and then the weekend getting everything together for the convention. I just couldn't do it after a week and a half with basically no sleep... There is always next year.
