I have a domain name that I have had registered for a little over 2 years. I have only used it for personal use (keep in touch with family), but now I am in the process of using it for my business.

The domain is www.planperfect.com. I got the name because the letters p-l-a-n are the intials of myself, wife, daughter and son in that order. How perfect, thus the name planperfect.

I read in a web design forum that I could get sued because there is a program that is called planperfect. I have never heard of it until now. It works with wordperfect or something. I don't really know for sure.

I have been working very hard on getting my design/hosting business up to snuff. I really don't need these kind of obstacles.
Do I need to be worried?

If anyone has any info to share please post.

Thanks,

thewitt

You are not cybersquatting. I wouldn't worry about it.

Like 'thewitt' stated, you are not cybersquatting because you didn't register the domain with the intention of selling to the the makers of the software. However, what I would check in to is see if those same software makers have copyrighted the name. They probably have but if not, you may want to. That would ensure that the name belongs to you for your business. Which by the way, is entirely different than what they are selling. In my opinion, I wouldn't worry too much since you have a valid reason for registering it and again, wouldn't be making software with the same or similar name.
