Anyone know what the industry average site visits-to-signups ratios are?

Thanks!

That is going to be different with almost every site.

It all depends on the site, how targeted your traffic is, and if they are just looking or need a host now.

If you get 1 in 75 to 1 in 200, that would be the ball park to shoot for. If your doing better than that, you have got some problems with your prices being too low, or some awsome targeted and hungry customers... ;)

We convert a visitor to a customer about 1 in 50. Our advertising is very well targetted.

hmm, i would have thought it would be much lower than that... i mean... many 'current' customers would be visiting your site just to submit a support ticket, go to the forums, check network status etc. which would be playing with your stats.

1 in 50 is what my partner who handles advertising/marketing told me. I think now he must have meant that of visitors who arrive at our site via one of our targetted banner ads out on the net, 1 in 50 signs up.

I just looked at the stats myself, and it looks like of total home page loads, 1 in 94 have signed up on average this year.

If they make it past our front page, we get over 2%, I'd say.

Definitely the 'key' getting them past the home page.
We usually find that very few sign up on the first visit. 'IF' they get past the first page, they tend to dissapear (probably to compare try or find something better) then signup on a 'return-visit'.

We've had 31876 uniques at dixiesys.com and 12805 at 3-95.com since inception, and roughly 800 customers. 55:1 give or take.
