View Full Version : Registering new DNS servers

I am starting a web hosting business and need to register my own DNS servers with the registrars so that my clients can use them for their domain setup when registering domains or moving to my services.

I originally registered my domain with 000domains.com and went into the account manager and created DNS servers for my domain. It is now 60 hours after I did that. How long does it usually take for this to go thru the system. I am still unable to resolve names that are on my DNS servers.

Is it sufficient if I register the DNS servers only in place or will I need to go to NetSol and the other ones and register them, too?

Sorry if this has been asked before but I must have used the wrong keyword when searching because I did not find the answer!

Thanks!

if you already created the nameservers in your domain manager then it should be up

i have never heard of it taking longer than an hour for them to take in the system

are they there with the ips ?

Hmmm, when I registered my nameserver with 000domains it took the whole of 15 minutes to activate. Certainly shouldn't take 60 hours.

EDIT: You are running DNS software on your server, aren't you? Didn't see any mention of this in your post. You can't go registering nameservers without having them running first. May sound as if I think you're dumb, but I don't, believe me. I'm sorry if this offends you...

Hi there,

Thanks for your input. I do not feel offended but I need to tell you that DNS is of course running on my servers.

I did update my account again with the information and waited until now. It seems like it is working now. I have no clue why this was not working before - no typos or so. I just was not sure if I need to register the servers with any other registrar, too.

Thanks for your help!
