20 a month doesnt sound much, are you sure you dont have that much money to pay for it per month?

Kyle,

I would read the fine prints to find out how much "Unlimited bandwidth" really is! Usually hosts like that have a limit on less than 5GB/month.

Maybe you should post the URL to this host and see what people think of them.

Unlimited, now that's a word. Perhaps, there will be a day when it will be possible.

Yes, i read the fine print and everything is unlimited as long as it is not warez or adult content. it is only $20 per month on a friend of mines site

Just curious, how do you plan to spilt the cost of a shared( as opposed to dedicated) hosting account? I don't think your going to find anyone that wants to even do that. Most if not all folks will want their own control panel and not have to worry about the hassle, especially with a $20 account.

Well,, if anyone here can find me a host for 20 and get unlimited space, transfer and subdomains then let me know,, otherwise please don't shoot down my ideas

You aint gonna get unlimited space or bandwidth for $20.

kyle,

Sharing a single account is not like sharing a dedicated server. Whoever you share the account with will have access to everything in your account (files, email, etc.) I also doubt that you will get unlimited anything for $20 a month. Read the TOS of the host you are looking at using. There is usually a clause in there limiting the unlimited.

No one is trying to shoot down your idea, they are simply trying to point out some possible problems, and keep you from making a mistake.

If you really can't afford the hosting fee, go to http://www.freewebspace.net/forums/ and look for a free host that fits your needs.

Good luck.

Before everyone gets too excited...

Kyle, first welcome to WHT! I'm not so sure about splitting accounts, but that isn't really going to work all that well. You're better off trying to sell off some of that space to a buddy of yours.

No one is really going to be able to help you with what you need. Bottom line, there is no tooth fairy, no money trees (your parents always used that one on ya'), and no unlimited space/bandwidth hosts. I suggest you look elsewhere. You'll get more for less (even though you don't think so).

If you found a host for $20 and it is what you think you want, then go for it. There are probably other unlimted offers out there, but just ask yourself if it makes sense to offer all that for $20/mo? Is it even physically possible? If not, what are the true limits?

Take a look at what it would cost you for a dedicated server from this company. Note that you'll pay an average of $3-8 per gigabyte of transfer, and that you'll actually have to pick a HD size. Anyway, just realize that any one of us could probably find you a less limited host for less money, than the one you are looking at. A good, solid host which doesn't lie to you from the beginning.

kyle, like the others said: There aint such a thing as unlimited. If you read the TOS "carefully" you will see some provisions which allow your host to cancel your account at any point in time.

As far as sharing accounts, it would be possible under a subdomain arrangement where the other user will have access to the subdomain directory only, while you have access to the whole account. But! back to the original point; I really doubt that any host can tolerate people sharing accounts under the unlimited deal. I bet your account will be cancelled within weeks.

Your best realistic solution would be a host where you know how much you are allowed. Remember that the host pays for every byte you transfer, and $20 don't buy that much transfer. Even at wholesale prices, this might buy 10-15GB only.

If you want, there is a $99 dedicated server deal which you can divide with 5 other people to pay 20 each. it comes with 100GB if I remember correctly...

Good luck
