tazd9t9 03-22-2002, 09:25 AM Hi all, i run www.ukspace4u.co.uk, its targeted at individuals and small businesses, however it doesn seem to be getting much interest, even when i place special offers, can anyone give me any tips as to improving my packages please?
21inchguns 03-22-2002, 09:31 AM I couldnt access the site..............though probably a problem on my end.......
tazd9t9 03-22-2002, 09:34 AM sorry i screwed up the link it is www.ukspace4u.co.uk
ToastyX 03-22-2002, 09:43 AM You seem to be aiming at UK customers, which might scare away some potential non-UK customers. Try including prices in US dollars also. Also, not everyone knows that PA stands for per annum. Try putting per year instead. Also, describe your servers (specs, location, etc.)
21inchguns 03-22-2002, 09:48 AM too many clicks till I found the packages, maybe throw in a compare plans page.........use US dollars.......
prices look ok.......so probably just need more marketing.....
Neo3Net 03-22-2002, 10:29 AM I agree. It is hard to look at all your pricing at once. Most people want to compare different packages.
Also try packing features into smaller plans. Thats what people are into. (ex. more subdomains, databases...) ;)
4solutions 03-22-2002, 12:49 PM I agree with the comments above, especially ToastyX's comment about the P.A., I'll bet you've lost one or two prospective customers who maybe though those prices were per month.
Also, I would not make prospective customers choose between unix and Redhat before seeing a comparison of your plans. Many new webmasters understand FTP, but that's it. They sometimes don't have a clue whether they even need unix or windows servers. Having to choose between operating systems upfront would most likely make them feel that they required greater technical skills with your hosting than they currently have, and therefore they might look elsewhere.
So, after I rambled on, yes, you should have a comparison page between the plans (which I think are overall fairly priced, but you're certainly not giving much bandwidth for the price).
Finally, what are you selling here? As your own name suggests, you are selling space on your servers for webhosting. So what kind of servers do you have? As a potential customer, your ommission of the information causes me to suspect that they are perhaps slow generic white boxes that are hopelessly overloaded. I'm sure that they are not... but tell us what we want to hear. That you're using "state-of-the-art" web servers connected on mutiple OC3 connections (or whatever). I think you can make any server sound impressive with a little marketing polish. Perhaps you could even put a picture of some impressive server on your homepage instead of that small picture of the lone woman working on the computer. As a potential customer, I am wondering if she is your only employee (in reality, I believe that is a stock photo).
Overall, though, a very professional website. The links work right and I like the header that is consistent throughout the website experience.
Just my two cents,
Keith

the pic of the devil, and on top is "unix"???? i though thats the mascot of freebsd os.
tazd9t9 03-22-2002, 05:53 PM Ok, i have increased the bandwidth by 1 gig on the personal plan, i have added an account oevr view, i have placed the prices in $ as well as £ and i have changed P.A. to per year. I have also set up a page where i will be putting the server info.
anymore ideas?
4solutions 03-22-2002, 06:16 PM Really like the changes you made...
I think you'll get a lot more inquiries and sign-ups now.
And again, overall, it's a great website. ;)
Best of luck,
Keith
