I have a RH 7.1 server that I haven't touched (used it) I want to update it to be all nice and secure and update PHP etc.

I just rememberd the Red Hat network and so I logged in, and they told me to register my systems and that I could update them there.

I did all this and then said go basically, is it updating my packages automatically?

Once you registered with RedHat and select the automatic update, the up2date will communicate with the Red Hat server and will update the older components automatically. Also, you can login to RedHat and check the update schedule on their site (I don't remember how, but it should be pretty straight forward). :)

been awhile since i have used update center but i believe it will also tell you the # of and updates you are doing
