View Full Version : I want to resell reseller accounts any suggestions on how to go about it
I want to resell reseller packages
Now do i have to go in for a VPS or dedicated solution and will it be as easy as selling reseller accounts
Do any ressellers or hosting companies offer the ability to resell a reseller package easily
please help me out
Infact i am asking for a solution in a reseller package or a solution that is just as easy because i need a reseller account too and want to share a little space with another reseller but dont him to have access to the entire package
layer0 06-03-2005, 03:55 PM If you plan to host low-usage sites you can go for a VPS which can be found at www.servint.net/vps or www.powervps.com. However, a VPS isn't really that good of solution when compared to a dedicated server. If you don't need management you can pick up a pretty cheap dedicated server that would work fine for your needs at www.layeredtech.com. However, if you do not need management you can try www.acunett.com's management plans.

Well, that's my interpretation. Furthermore, I don't think there is any completely stable way for a host to offer such a solution. I personally believe it gets too complicated which is un-neccesary for the host themselves.

Gold1234 06-03-2005, 04:18 PM Imaging hosts providing a sub-WHM panel. lol.
Why do you think all hosts don't have such a service? It will be hard to keep track of what all users are doing. Also your putting alot more at risk just on one server. There must be some kind of security problem in the process somewhere.

At least with cPanel.. their reseller setup is HORRIBLE!
Nobody wants to muck with it... it's really just bad.
I do some things on our servers that depend on the data and it just makes me want to cry whenever I do a new project involving cPanel's reseller data.
Gold1234 06-03-2005, 04:25 PM That's why i use directadmin now.
grace5 06-03-2005, 10:55 PM you can buy software at deasoft.com if you can get your provider to install it on server for you
thank you for all the replies
From this i understand that it is not possible to become offer subreselling in normal reseller plan
So what i want to know is if i go in for VPS or dedicated server can i offer reseller accounts will i have that option in my control panel in a VPS and how difficult is it to maintain
And is it possible to do that with the VPS hosts that elix has provided
webair-gene 06-04-2005, 10:23 AM As a reseller you can sell sub-reseller accounts through companies who offer RVskin with their packages.
If you have a VPS/Dedicated with CPanel(or any other panel) then you can offer reseller accounts.
eSited 06-04-2005, 11:10 AM RVSkin's software can create sub-reseller accounts?
hmm.. I doubt it

I just recently got RVSkin and yes - I saw a feature there for that purpose. Haven't tested it yet, though.

grace5 06-04-2005, 11:21 AM Seems to me it does not include a sub - WHM as he is looking for.
niyogi 06-04-2005, 07:02 PM What about if you can strike a deal with a reseller hosting company to re-sell their plans at a discount?
Roj
RVskin will not allow you to create reseller accounts directly. It interfaces with WHM or other products to make private "branding" for your resellers much easier and to provide infinitely varying degrees of control over features you do or don't want your resellers to have access to for their customers. But it will not allow creation of resellers aside from what is allowed by your "plan" or hosting software. (And you can do things like create "news" just for your resellers, post "news" for your shared customers but not your reseller's customers, or send a "server wide" news announcement to all customers including your reseller's customers for scheduled downtime or such.) But you would still need a VPS (or preferably dedicated) to offer actual reseller accounts.
Basically it just provides a far greater degree of individual item, feature, and/or account control than say WHM's "feature manager" or such.
Joshua 06-04-2005, 11:19 PM Just get a dedicated server or VPS - No use trying to screw with control panel addon scripts or just screwing with CPanel. We purchased a host who allowed clients to setup sub-resellers, but they had to put in a ticket each time they wanted to setup a new account. It also got pretty confusing from a management part on our end, and there were some technical issues as well (regarding how CPanel/WHM treated the accounts).
hmmm so i have come to understand that if i take a vps then i can create whm packages what will be the control panel on a vps and is it as easy as whm
But i had once in my search for a web host seen the feature resell resller packages also but i jus cannot remmeber the site
any how it doesnt matter just ell me about the vps
thank you all for your replies
niyogi 06-11-2005, 01:16 PM There are tools that some reseller hosting companies will provide to allow you to create WHM accounts from your own WHM. But these are buggy and therefore problematic.
It would be better to consider a VPS solution that will give you a stand WHM/cPanel configuration that allows you the flexibility and stability of managing your own customers at your own pricepoints.

oh that is nice thank you niyogi joshua and all others who have helped me with thier valuable comments
I think i will look forward getting a vps

I don't think that you'll be able to find a "free trial" VPS anywhere. There isn't much of a learning curve between shared/reseller to VPS if you just use the cPanel/WHM interface, so I don't think that you will have any problems. Many offer a 30 day money back guarantee though, I know that PowerVPS does.
I just going through the documentation of WHM and i found a reseller section which allows you to setup resellers
http://cpanel.net/images/whm_ss/whmf1.jpg
see the screen shot from the cpanel site itself and there are many other options missing from my whm panel @gazzin
Now are these options only available for VPS or can they be enabled for resseller also
Like from the WHM you can disable many options in customers Cpanel
do you think if a host enabled the reseller option in WHM could it be possible to do that
I think that wouldnt be so complicated either
DediZoneSales 06-12-2005, 02:39 PM I think you should start with a VPS, i can recommend Hostforweb for those, they offer some good deals.

That is for VPS and Dedicated hosts whom have root access only!
