I have a reseller account that I use to host my web site, my tennis team's website, and a few of my friends websites. My reseller account doesn't cost that much, but I still have plenty of resources available. Basically I would like to start hosting a few people and actually charge money. It wouldn't be anything huge, maybe pay for the account and make some extra money.

My reseller account does come with clientexec for billing and I am very familiar with WHM. Is there anything legally I should do before starting to host people that I don't know personally?

I don't really want to make it a business, but just something to make a few bucks a month. I will be starting college next year, so it would be nice to make a little extra money. Again it would be very small scale and I don't imagine making more than $100 a month.

Also do you think I should have a website for people to read about hosting plans, so they can find the information easily? I think my target audience would mostly be people from web hosting boards that post requests. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris Muench

Hey There
To turn over $100 a month isnt not by all means easy, If you want to get into hosting to make a decent sum of money ur gonna need the time, personally i would just host friends and famlily in your position, Hope you make a constructive choice

Hi,
First you need to figure out what price you can offer your services in order to have clients but also make money your self. Like the previous person said, in your situation it would be wise just to host people you know, which means you have less liability as well. Then you'll have to make a good website.

You guys are right, If I can just host 4 friends who pay me $5 a month the account pays for itself. That is probably the best thing to do since there is less liability hosting people you know.

If I were in your position I would host people I knew, otherwise I'd just solicit my business to people that are requesting hosting that way you are saved from having to maintain a website selling your hosting and you also would have less worries in the end.
Good luck
