View Full Version : Stargate doesn't update DNS IP addresses?

I have a few customers that registered their domain names through stargate.com. I've changed my DNS server IP address, and have updated that information through Network Solutions' name server change form.

It's been many weeks now, and yet customer domains registered through stargate.com still show the old DNS server ip address.

How do I go about changing them to match what my current IP address is? I don't want to go through each and every single customer domain and manually change the DNS IPs. Besides, I don't have most of their stargate login info anyways.

Thanks.

In most cases, the IP address listed in a domain registration record, mean nothing. As long as they have the hostname listed, they should resolve to the new IP just fine. You could try emailing stargate, but they probably can't (won't) do anything about it. I had similar problems with another registrar, and that's pretty much the answer they gave me. The record shows an IP of 0.0.0.0 for my primary nameserver, but it does in fact work okay.

HI!

I think it is quite obvious that customers who had their domain names registered at stargate be the ones to do it themselves.

The Stargate Control Panel and simple. And it should propagate soon. That is based on our experience.

Why don't you email all your clients to update their DNS info for their domains:

Here is a sample email:

"Dear client:

To better serve you, we have managed to update our nameservers. May we therefore request you to change your DNS info to the following:

ns.domain.com
IP blah blah

ns2.domain.com
IP blah blah

Thank you very much. If you have any problem please contact us.

Thanks."

Then you also post this on your community/forums page.
That should do it.

Stargate will not be the one to do it for you, anyway.

I hope that helps.
