Or is this truely "Unlimited":D Synergy 03-21-2002, 02:56 PM Most DSL/CABLE providers only let you transfer 8-20KB per sec so you can serve 1 or 2 sites :) BrandonR 03-21-2002, 07:28 PM You should also note that most Cable/DSL providers specifically forbid you to run servers adn doing so is violating their Terms of Service. They can kick you from their service in a second if they discover you running a server. Chicken 03-21-2002, 08:08 PM It is truly limited. e5p1der 03-21-2002, 08:15 PM For testing purposes I'd say so, but for biz, I wouldn't stake my reputation on that. However, Brandon's right, if the cable/dsl guys find out you'll lose your broadband. Tazzman 03-21-2002, 08:26 PM Depends on the host. Quite a few ISP's in these regions (The Netherlands) will let you run servers on they're higher priced packages. Pitty none of these ISP's are available in the area where I live. Altough I am allowed to run a server, and the speed is good enough to do this, I'm limited to 10 GIGS of transfer a month on my cable connection :( Wish a new ISP would hurry up and expand their business into my area so there'd be some competition. |
