Strange behavior today - traceroute to our server hosted by www.*******.com dies at

d1-0-3-0-22.a12.sttlwa01.us.ce.verio.net (198.104.203.14)

while I am still able to access our server (POP, HTTP, FTP, SSH - everything works), but only from my PC. Nobody else in our office is able to access the server. All PCs are within the same network, same network mask, no tricks like NAT - every computer has its own static IP address.

I can access only our server within *******, the *******.com is unavailable as well. No way to ftp/ssh ******* based server from our server hosted by Rackspace.

Does anybody experience problems with ******* right now?

And does anybody have their fax #?

Dear Wow Customers,

******* is finally ready to move into our new datacenter !

******* has been planning this datacenter move for a few months now. Our
old datacenter is already at its capacity and we have built a new
datacenter that will be faster, more secure and more reliable in order
to show our dedication for quality services. We need to work closely
with each of our customers in order to make this migration a success.

We are planning to migrate our datacenter in 2 phases. The first phase
will take effect on:

Thursday, March 21, 2002 4:00 am - 9:00 am P.S.T.

The second phase is still being planned. Affected customers will be
notified when the second phase take effects.

Your server and your application will be down during this time. This is
unavoidable as we are actually physically moving your server from the
old datacenter to the new datacenter.

******* recommends our customers to:

- Notify your business partner that your server application(s) will be
down during this time.
- Backup all important data in the event of disaster recovery.
- Be by the phone during the migration period should our technicians
need to contact you.
- Check all of your server connectivity and applications after the
migration. (We will send you an email notifying you that the migration
has been completed)

Finally, we would like to thank you for your patience and understanding
as we are going through this migration process. If you have any question
regarding this migration, please contact us at support@*******.com.

Regards,
******* Technical Support Team

Perhaps they don't have the right email address on file? Or... as the email says perhaps your server isn't being moved in the first batch. ;)

Bah! When will people learn to have an ALTERNATE account to use in case this kind of stuff happens!?

Chances are the email address thay have to contact you goes through the server that is down. You'll probably have a nice note waiting for you when your server comes back up.

When it does, you should give them a new contact email address that IS NOT on the server at *******.

I seriously doubt this had anything to do with a Verio related network outage, considering the above posting from their customer service department. However, it might be that ******* was located in one of Verio's data centers that they closed down, and had to move because of that.
