View Full Version : Down to 3...

I have narrowed a list down to 3 hosts. I basically need lots of bandwidth, but don't use a lot of other features. However, I do have multiple accounts I am servicing, so I need a reseller/multiple domain program.

I am deciding between http://tera-byte.com/, http://www.urgenthost.com/, and http://www.zenithtech.com/.

TeraByte has an excellent record with you all, but not much of a re-seller program.

I did a search on urgenthost and zenithtech, and found little feedback. Their features are incredible for the price, but track record is a question mark.

Can anyone add anything about any of the above hosts?

Thanks!

Greg

ZenithTech is located at SkyNetWeb's NOC center and would seem to be reasonably reliable from what I can tell (as SNW is quite a good NOC).

UrgentHost is located at Catalog.

As for Tera-Byte...... Well, you know the rest :D

Hope this helped a *little*.

I had a bad experience with the business side of zenithtech's thing. 2 years ago I was supposto run their US sales office...... well needless to say I'm not running it because Adam there pretty much flat out lied to me (3 months to get everything in order..... Sureeee )

ok I'm finished venting :)

IT seems like most folks on this board recommend Tera-Bytes, HostRocket and OLM

Good luck

I sent a message out to ZenithTech last night with some questions, and haven't heard back yet. Given DanielP's comments also, I can eliminate them.

I wish Tera-Byte had a better reseller program. http://urgenthost.com gives 40% off on all additional accounts. I can host my few clients with 50 megs of storage and 5 gigs of transfer for an additional cost to me of $3.60 a month! I'll come out OK on that one, if reliability and service are halfway decent.

Keep the comments and feedback coming! I do appreciate being able to draw on everyone's knowledge and experiences.

You gotta be kidding!

If that's not the most chickens*** thing I've ever heard!

It's time to tell the world, just out of spite. I volunteer to help.

Keep putting that word out!

I like http://Mybizhosting.com

They might be better than those other three you mentioned.

You might do a search of the forum on urgenthost.com -- I believe they were taking some heavy flack in one of the other threads.

On the other hand, their site talks... when it runs, anyway.

Whether or not this is a good thing is presently being heavily debated in this thread: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=4199

It appears that staff at urgenthost.com may perhaps spend inordinately large amounts of time in the john (perhaps from bootleg fermented goat milk), however, so this may be due to necessity.

UrgetnHost sounds to cheap to me, and from what I'm hearing, it's sounding like you get what you pay for.

I know this is probably too late to help but I'll post it anyway for anyone else looking for info about Zenithtech.

I have been using them for over a year to host four web sites, they have good points and bad points but on the whole have been reliable considering what you get for the price (although prices have just gone up and existing customers have the option of whether or not to upgrade. I think new customers are put on the upgraded service by default).

Anyway, good points...
*They ALWAYS answer e-mails within an hour or two.
*The domain control panel is good.
*Tech support is good because they answer e-mails quickly and sort problems out quickly.
*Everything seems to work most of the time.

Bad points...
*Overall atmosphere not very friendly (if that matters).
*Unexplained problems from time to time (ie. have had each of the four web sites down more than once while I have been using them).
*After setting up new services you might have to e-mail them before everything is running smoothly, ie. everything works eventually, but not always at first.
*You have to keep on top of what they are doing, especially if they change something that affects you - they don't automatically realise they have messed your service up so you have to tell them if they have and make sure you are getting everything you paid for when you set the service up.

Would I use them again? Probably not because I have found another host with similar services for similar prices and a much friendlier atmosphere and client area with forums - http://www.webhoster.co.uk/ - have been using them for another site for nearly a year and never had a problem. You can also read their forums even if you are not a customer.

Hope this helps

:)

urgenthost suckes, or at least sucked!

When I used it about half a year ago, there were lots of downtime and no support at all. Don't know who takes care of the business now, but it's not accessble.

I like hostway.com, your-site.com and hostrocket.com. Your-site.com has very good phone tech support but it might be long distance. Hostway.com has the best online support. Hostrocket.com has top notch online support and forums.:stickout

Americanboy,

I don't mean to be hasty here, but it's it slightly odd that out of your 5 posts on this board, 4 of them are reccomendations for MyBizHosting? I've also noticed you make a lot of MyBizHosting reccomendation on other boards...

Note that post was last January and a check in the control panel says that that was the last time he was here.
