Where did you hear about this wait period? I am kind of new at this. I have registered 2 domains so far but never sold one.

I thought it was a 60day "no moving" rule.

When I registered moose-shack.net (which a certain copy stole from me because I registered the domain through their previous owners, then when they were sold, the new owners claimed the domain name as theirs - the wankers) I asked to have it moved to my account and was told there was a 45 or 60 day 'grace' period where you cannot move it to another registrar.

This was confirmed when I tried moving it and got a response from ICANN saying that I needed to wait xx days.

Whatever it is, there is deffinatly a rule that you cannot move them for xxx days.

It is a 60 day period. We've encountered that rule a few times, and I'm not sure I agree with it for most cases.

probably just so they dont have people flipping domain names left and right. Also, I have seen that some registrars actually will not switch over ownership of the domain for upto 120 days :crap:

The reason that they hold off is because they want you to pay the $100 for their "express" service. NetworkSolutions does this alot.

I emailed the place where I registered the domain and here is what they told me.

There is no waiting to change ownership, there is a 60 day waiting period for transferring to a different Registra.

I think it's obvious that the advertising isn't making anyone jump at it. People notice that if you offer advertising, the site advertising isn't that expensive, therefor making it a little less exciting...
