I've seen lots of praises for the service and support of certain hosts, but these praises seem to come from brand new customers.

What I'd like to know is, what host have you been with for more than 6 months and are you're still happy with their service?

Thanks!

Well, I'll tell you, but don't let their website scare you away.

Javapie.com - I've had five domains with them since June of 2001, and couldn't be happier. Fast support response time, fast servers (not overloaded), and I don't ever recall any downtime worth mentioning - maybe a few minutes here and there, but that's about it.

I went with them on a lark, basically somewhere to put a handful of sites while trying to find something permanent after leaving Jumpline and Linuxwebhost. That they turned out to be this good was an unexpected, but welcome, surprise.

I've always been happy with ***********, but since they're pretty expensive, I've moved to Site5 2 months ago. I've been with Hostex for about a year and 3 months, very good customer service, fast servers, nearly no downtime.

wow...this is pretty interesting. There are tons of posts on this forum about how great their hosts are, but only two people replied who are happy with their service for more than a few months....hmmm

thanks for your suggestions...I'll check them out

I've been with ukname.net for 14 nearly 15 months. Very impressed with the hosting, support and pretty much everything they gave me :)

whatever your choice, ask on webhostingtalk.com what everyones view of them are.

I've been with ecommercediscovery.com since July/August of last year, and have been most impressed, servers are upgraded very reguarly, support is absloutely fantastic (I have only had one problem since starting out with them, and that lasted for around 20 mins, haven't had any downtime since).

The customer service I get from Josh (Freeva on here) is top notch, and if anyone ever wants a web host, I always recommend them.

Support queries are very often answered within 10-15 mins, but the longest I have had to wait is around an hour, you are always kept well informed of what is going on, and generally a brilliant host.

Also Josh also is able to help you get what you need by creating you a custom plan to suit your needs, which is very handy.

We recommend them at JSN Web Services, and they are without a dobut the best host i have ever experienced (I've had a fair few in my time).

10/10!

I have been with jaguarPC with near one year, I think. If not, it's at least ten months.

I've been using FutureQuest (http://www.futurequest.net/) for almost 2 years now and haven't had any real problems yet. I've been reading about the many woes folks have been having at Aletia, and I'm glad to be where I am.

I have had absolutely no problems with Interland for almost a year and a half. I think it's because they forgot that I am a customer and can't locate the server I'm on.

I've been with digitalrax.com for 4 months ( November of 2001 :-) and have been very happy. Great deal and great support. And I hope I'm not a newbie.

If you did a search on me you would have known..

Anyway, gee.. maybe there was a *reason* I said this? Should always watch out for 'advertisers' on these forums and with newbie's it's always more difficult to see if they're advertising or truly and honestly happy with their host, especially with short posts.

I just noticed this post attracted a lot of newbie's, which could also be advertisers. Nothing more, nothing less.

(ie. I am not saying I am better than anyone else or worse than anyone else and same goes for you. It was purely a rational remark.)

I had an account with Communitech.net for about 2.5 years. That is a very long time in the internet world. Had only one major outage that lasted for half a day. Otherwise had no problems.
The reason I left was the price. I had an account for which currently they charge $29.95 a month, on a quartely basis. I could host only one domain.
I would have stayed with them (hate changes) if it wasn't for lack of IMAP access to email and Interland.com purchasing them. I thought it was the right time to look around.

Now I am getting a better package, am able to host multiple domains, have IMAP email protocol available, and pay $14.95 a month! My current host is alwayswebhosting.com. They are new, but so far I am very pleased with the service.

Hopefully this thread will be useful to more than just me. I've noticed that it has received a lot of views.

It just seems there are a lot of excellent new companies...but how will they be in a few months when they get more customers? Best thing to do is go with someone who has passed the test :)

I agree, a long term good reputation should be a big factor in deciding which host to go with. Especially considering support, it must be quite easy to give good support when you're starting and only have a few customers. It must be getting a lot tougher when you can't handle the amount of customers anymore and need to look for *good* personnel (as good as your reputation was).

Why does it matter all that much about how many posts people have? Some are more quiet, doesn't make them complete newbies.

Onto topic: When I first started I was with WhizHost. They are a good site with nice support. Dreamhost is also very nice for a small personal site. Wasn't sure what type of host you were looking for :look:
