Ummm...not sure what this has to do with hosting, but you can usually get them through your local phone company (Verizon, Pacific Bell, etc). Heyy...maybe that's how I'll make my fortune, set up a 900 number for web hosts :), it's a great idea, that has never been done: 1-900-HOSTING I can see it now: Hello big boy, thank you for calling 1-900-HOSTING, where we can satisfy all of your hosting needs...Press 1, if you want to talk about Linux problems, Press 2, if you are Windows man, press 3 if you want to scope out the network, and press 4 if you want to talk to two hosting companies at the same time... All calls are billed at $1.99 per minute to your major credit card. ARETNA 03-20-2002, 06:16 PM LMAO It would be a great venture....Let me know if you want to jump in on such a great venture. Cheers! west 03-20-2002, 06:22 PM :-) we want to use it for pay support line, many customers have no idea how to administrate server etc, let's call it extra personal support, so we will give them advices this way.. jimb 03-20-2002, 08:35 PM A better idea may be to just have a 1-800 number set up, and then tell people that each phone call will be $25.00/hour and that they could pay for it upfront. Then, have your tech people just imput the credit card into a software package that comes with your merchant account (or you can order it). It would be alot cheaper than the Bell/Verizon costs of $1500 set up fee. Let us know how it turns out Timothy 03-22-2002, 12:11 PM LOL Isn't this the route Microsoft takes for alot of support issues? :) Maniac 03-22-2002, 12:13 PM Isn't Microsoft one of the biggest companies? 9onlinehost 03-22-2002, 12:17 PM Originally posted by Timothy LOL Isn't this the route Microsoft takes for alot of support issues? :) Microsoft has a 24/7 toll free software support line no charge not many people even realize this but they do its just hard as hell to find the number but they do offer support for there products FOC Maniac 03-22-2002, 12:19 PM That's good they offer support for their products..:D Alareach 03-23-2002, 06:53 AM I think 900 is an interesting idea, however you need to consider that many phones have a 900 block on them now. In fact, the phone company normally suggests it unless you absolutely need to call a 900#. Plus you can't get calls from: cell phones, if someone works at an office which blocks they can't call, outside the US cannot call in most cases I am sure also. Maybe you can offer both. |
