You cannot expect .com prices from small island registries. They wouldn't be able to exist. I know .cc and .tv charge less, but these are "pretend GTLDs" - and most ccTLD registries want to serve their local communities rather than pretending to be GTLDs. 50 dollars is pretty average for a small island registry, and some charge considerably more. If you don't want to register your domain in a small island go for .com!
