how does alabanza and vdi based hosting companies work?

they just buy servers from alabanza/vdi and use it for hosting?

how much do these 'services' or 'servers' cost?
i went to alabanza and all they say is call their 800number for details etc..

im just curious cause there are a heap alot of hosting companies that seem to be based on alabanza/vdi

thanks

Basically, companies 'lease' servers from Alabanza or VDI (much like leasing a house in the real world) for a certain amount per month - anywhere from $500/month upwards. Alabanza I believe charges around $800/month.

If you go to almost any hosting company (see the list in the Advertsing Forum - ATTN ALL HOSTS), you can lease a server. Some use it for their own sites, some use it to host other people's sites.

Yes they both just rent you their servers. There is going to be not much difference in the two pretty soon because of VDI's Cpanel. This will be good because it will inspire competition between the two and maybe force alabanza to have good technical support.

Actually.. Alabanza only rents or leases you a server, whereas @ vdi and most VDI hosts you have the choice, most all VDI hosts buy the own hardware and pretty much just co-locate with vdi instead of leasing.

alpha, you see so many people with vdi and alabanza because of the control panels. It makes the hosts' life and the customer's life much easier. And it's a good marketing point since lots of people ask for a control panel when they sign up. But sure you can find cheaper companies than VDi and Alabanza.

As far as cost is concerned, Alabanza charges a bit over $800 a month. VDI runs at about $600 a month. With VDI, if you prepay for 3 months, you get the 4th free, so if you have the cash, this can bring down your cost to $450 a month.

I think the control panels have set the standard for virtual hosting and possibly dedicated servers..

It's like hosting in a box.
