View Full Version : Managed dedicated server? How much?

I need to have a fully managed dedicated server, even if I don't really need that much support.

I've seen this offer from Tranxact partner

Deal #82XP:
Athlon XP 1700+ (1466 MHz)
512MB SDRAM PC133
2 * 40GB 7200rpm Hard Drive
8 IP's Included (5 Usable)
300 GB of Monthly Traffic (Actual Transfer, Fully Burstable Multi-Homed)
Remote Reboots (APC Switch)
Monthly: $119
Setup: $614

and for 250$/month you'll get full management service.

At the end it becomes around 5000$ the first year.. pretty expensive. From here in Italy I don't think I'll call every day to have support on a server that will host only static sites but I need someone 24*7 just as a guarantee.

Whad do you suggest? Do you know similar services that offer Mang. for less? Is the service worth 250$/month?

Thanks and sorry for grammatical mistakes :-),

Marco

I don't think that we'll use Cpanel.. I like it but it's too expensive. We are not in hosting business, we host the sites that we design. Consider that we'll take at least 10 servers in 2002 but only one will be for hosting many sites.
One will be for our website and for experiments and the others for big sites we design that need a dedicated server

If theyre doing a good job, half or more of that payment should be going towards their services or updating your server for security and useablilty. Unless your trying to provide a honeypot just installing an OS and throwing it in some NOC/DC is the worst idea you can have.
