Hi,

A while ago a read a post/page about WHT's hardware.
I was just wondering what sort of hardware you use today, and how the system works.
Like DNS, mysql, failover systems, backups, clusters, control panels etc.
I'd be intrested to know how a board as big as this works.

How old is the post? I know iNet posted officially within the last year.

iNet has a server farm at RackSpace, and the servers are all Dual Xeon's, AFAIK.

They also don't use control panels..

This post was really old.
Maybe a year ago. It may have actually have been a page on the site (not a post).

I was looking for a bit more. On the post it told us all about how they spread the load across servers and databases.
I can't find the post.

What was relevant a year ago, may not be today :) Things change as they grow.

Exactly why I was asking for it again :-)

I imagine they've added a heap more beef to their platform at rackspace. There'd be all new goodies and nick nacks for sure. But the less they publicly disclose about their setup, the better for security, imo.

Aussie Bob, I agree with you to a certain extent however iNET posted the information ~a year ago so I dont see why they would refrain now.

To my knowledge, the post is gone and won't return. iNET isn't publicly disclosing their setup anymore although I can say it has improved since those posts a year ago.

Actually the servers are XBox 360s borrowed from the E3 Expo and used for handling the databases! :D

Opteron whips the pants off Itanium's, IMHO.

So then they're really Apple Mac G5s? :D -- Since that is what their demos were played on.
