I have been entrusted with changing the dns servers of a very high traffic domain.

The new dns servers will be:
ns1.domainname.com
ns2.domainname.com

The old dns servers were:
ns1.isp.com
ns2.isp.com

The domain is hosted at godaddy.com and i have registered the two name servers ns1.domainname.com and ns2.domainname.com at godaddy.com.

now my question is how do i check if the registration of the two servers ns1.domainname.com and ns2.domainname.com has been successful and is available to the other DNS servers all over the world.

Thanks for your anticipated help :)

that link doesnt return any results for ns1.domainname.com

is there any solution out there other then using the extra domain method.

ok, if in the next page show you near the DNS, the IP, the DNS is fine.

or you can go to your DOS prompt, and run tracert command.

c:\tracert ns1.domainname.com

http://reports.internic.net/cgi/whois?whois_nic=ns1.domainname.com&type=nameserver

Replace ns1.domainname.com with your Primary DNS and then try.
