I saw this, it really bites for Abovenet. Though they haven't been, what I would consider, a major hosting player in a while.

I have a bunch of friends who went to SiteSmith, and they are just sitting around waiting for the axe to fall :-(.

The only good thing about this whole mess is that I never liked Spagnola that much :D.

One thing I am very curious about, and so far MFN has resisted my inquiries, is who the PAIX buyer is going to be. They have a real good crew at PAIX, and I think they offer a great service. I'd hate to see someone come in and mess it up :). Especially when PAIX is a steal at $50M.

Though the Cogent thought did occur to me, I am just not sure what the benefit to Cogent would be, other than they might be able to leverage PAIX to get better peering agreements.

Didn't AboveNet merge with another company to form MFN? I thought that was what happend.....hmmmm I guess not. :rolleyes:

I believe MFN bought AboveNet and one other company to add to their existing offerings.
