View Full Version : What datacenter do you use?
Asher S 03-19-2002, 01:15 PM Hi guys n gals,
This'll be an interesting topic. Why dont ya'll hosting firms post here what DC(s) you use and why?
Thanks,
Asher.
cabalstudios 03-19-2002, 01:28 PM Interesting,
We use a couple of DC's first and original being a private datacenter in Rochester, reason we use this, mainly for private server use, and web-hosting. (12.47.44.22)
Atlanta, Georgia - We use this DC, for dedicated and colocated server clients only, as we can offer outstanding prices for services, compared to our Rochester DC, where prices are 3x the price at Atlanta. (209.51.157.2)
We have used other DCs in the past, but the above two are our current ones. :D
Regards,
Imran

dside443 03-23-2002, 10:56 PM Hurricane Electric in Fremont, California - a pleasure to work with, and a pretty good facility. Free remote hands service (always good!).
mdrussell 03-24-2002, 04:01 AM VDI and NAC in NJ.
Jedito 03-24-2002, 04:29 AM VO in Colorado.
cyansmoker 03-24-2002, 08:37 AM The hub of telecommunications and internet connectivity, former Wells Fargo building, downtown Los Angeles.
And a couple other DCs for special requirements...such as low-cost bandwidth ;)

The speed is very good, the uptime so far has been 100% and I have an SLA where if there is more than 5 minutes outage in a day I get that day free

avara 03-26-2002, 09:45 AM NAC, but looking for other data centers for future servers (Peak-10 looks interesting, I will have to call them to find out more!)

Asher S 03-26-2002, 12:32 PM I've heard that NAC is pretty reliable.... while I dont have personal experience. Can anyone please tell me what kind of uptime you get from your box at NAC?
Best Regards,
Asher.

Over the past month I've only noticed a short 20 minute outage while they rerouted some traffic. Apart from that it's been great.
Asher S 03-26-2002, 01:03 PM Not bad at all, just a pricy :)

I'm not really with NAC especially this month. Nearly every day it's down for a few minutes up to 15mins. Before it was a lot better but now it's not good enough. But when it's up, it's really fast. I get 110ms pings from here and I don't get those times not with many dc's.
I hope they will do better again.

mdrussell 03-26-2002, 02:04 PM Could it be bad routing to Switzerland?
Our MRTG graphs show no downtime over the past week, neither do our monitoring services.
Matt
Voodoo Web 03-26-2002, 03:11 PM I don't know, normally the trace stops at
209.123.182.242 | core1.dcjn.pwebtech.com
or
209.123.37.30 | aggr1.nyc.dcjn.net
I don't know much about routing but I can compare to my other server at skynetweb.com and this has nearly no downtime (1 hour per year).
Today (about 5 hours before this post) it was down for about 15mins and I used all the public visualroute servers to check.

I've been very happy with the quality and uptime from AffordableColo.com (DC in Dallas). Ping time is between 80-150ms which is quite good.
