Hello everyone,

I have decided to put my PPC search engine (http://www.searchbud.com) up for sale here @ webhostingtalk.com. I'm looking for anyone who is interested in a great oppertunity to run your own pay-per-click search engine just like "goto.com". I have been running this site alone for the past 3 months. It is a custom designed, fully licensed site, and it includes the awesome domain name "SearchBud.com", as well as all images, html, and custom scripting. The site uses the SmartSearch scripts (from www.smartcgis.com) written in perl. They have been extensively modified and there has been well over $700 worth of custom programming put into them to create several new features, including a "google-type" sponsored listings collumn.

Search Features

Everything is automated with professional scripts.
Site accepts PayPal and 2checkout payments, no merchant account necessary.
Web sites bid money to get listed, they pay every time someone clicks through to their site from your search.
You can set a minimum bid amount.
Add or remove categories in seconds.
Can handle thousands of listings per keyword. That's more than enough (Goto.com has an average of 40 listings per keyword).
Only daily unique clicks are counted (to prevent fake clicking).
Clicks are counted, the site is charged according to how much they bid, and the visitor is redirected to that site instantly.
Sites are only listed under keywords they have bid on, and if they have enough money in their accounts.
Optionally let members bid on a "catch all" keyword. This means the listing is displayed for any keyword that has no bids on it, anything from "computer hardware" to nonsense like "aekjfdsjkfds". This is an excellent option for members who don't need targeted traffic, and you can make lots of extra money!
You can optionally choose to "verify all bids". If you choose to do this, then no bids will be posted until you (the admin) verifiy's them through the admin center. Submissions are easier to manage by admin. You can select multiple submissions to approve, or deny, all at once! This is optional, and is turned off right now.
Submission approval/denial e-mails sent to members contain full list of all approved/denied submissions (instead of separate e-mail for each keyword).
Create low-level admin accounts for your employees to manage submissions only!
Display listings from MSN.com after bided results.
Put limit on number of "catch all" listings that will be displayed.
Create list of member e-mails or send message to all of them directly from admin.
Unique Feature: Users can bid on a "google-type" sponsored listing that is displayed on all pages of the site. The top 5 highest bids are automatically displayed! Very popular! This feature is unique, you won't find it on any other sites for sale like this one!

Administration Features

Admin page lets you approve/deny submissions, view detailed info about members, and add/subtract money from their accounts.
E-mail notifications sent to members for everything from signup to approved submissions. You can edit every aspect of the emails very easily!
Passwords are encrypted for the admin and members, as well as the data used to count clicks (to prevent anyone from messing with it).
Warning e-mail is sent out before a customer's account runs out of funds (any amount of days in advance that you want).
Search keywords are logged and can be viewed instantly.
Admin can view any number of top keywords or top members (by account balance).
Admin area shows each member's bid listings.
Admin can delete individual keyword listings
Account payments through paypal.com are inserted into members accounts instantly. Credit card payments (if enabled) can be accepted instantly through the admin with 1 click.
Users cannot signup more than once. You can remove this feature, however to prevent fraud I have left it on.
You can have a confirmation e-mail sent before new accounts are opened.
You can set an opening amount of money that is given to each user upon sign up (in other words, a sign up bonus). Currentely this is set to $10.00 (special promition to get more sign ups, and it's worked!) but you can set it to any figure you want, including $0.00.

Members Area Features

Main page with news/updates, account balance update, average money spent per day, and estimated time until they run out of money.
Manage Listings, where members can add/edit/delete search listings and change their bids.
Info and password changing page.
Allow members to upload Excel Spreadsheet files for quick and easy submission of multiple listings.
"Top Bid It!" button puts a member's selected listings in the #1 spots automatically.
Member bid management areas are greatly improved. It's now easier to find, view and select actions for their listings!
Special search to quickly check bids placed on keywords by others.
Advanced stats which are updated instantly (with Goto.com you can only check the previous day's stats)!
Link to instructions on how to make payments and add funds to their accounts.
Lost password lookup tool.
Very easy 3-step process to add funds to their account instantly through paypal, no work required!

About SearchBud.com

These are most of the features available on SearchBud.com. I'm sure I left a few out. Your best bet is to have a look
and see for yourself! I strongly suggest all interested parties visit searchbud.com and
mess around with every single fuction available on the site! I have build it from the ground up, and have
invested hundreds of dollars into it. The site currently gets approximately 4,500 unique visitors per month, and has over 950 keywords bidded on. When a keyword is searched that doesn't have any bids, it will display the "catch-all" listings. To see bidded searches, try searcing for common words like "sex" & "gamble". Why am
I selling it? Several reasons. I'm heading off to college in May and will have no time to keep the site up to date
(not that it requires all that much time), but the main reason is i've never been really good at marketing. I feel the
site has gone to waste over the past 3 months. Despite it being fairly successful and getting a vast number of hits each
month, it hasn't reached it's full potential, and therefore I am looking to sell it to someone who can take it to the top.

Sale & Payment Terms

To make a bid, you can either e-mail me directly at Bids@SearchBud.com or, you can post your bid on these forums.
I am looking for serious parties only please. Only bids above $300 US will be *considered*. I am open to using most any type of payment service,
including Escrow.com & Paypal. There are no hidden fees or costs. The only costs you will be resposible for, are your bid, renewal of the domain name (it doesn't expire for 9 months)
and the hosting fees (6 months of free hosting included, unless you choose to switch to another host). FYI, This is the first time I have posted this site for sale, ANYWHERE.

Best of luck to everyone.

Right now the site is on pace to hit around 5,000 unique hits for March. As for total hits, looks like around 100,000 for all of march. The site uses cpanel4, so I can't give you live access to the stats (that would involve giving you entire access to the site). But I did copy the source of the main stats for you, you can view them at http://www.searchbud.com/wht/index.php

Thanks,
Adam de Jaray

Note: Edited to fix URL

Hello,

I'm assuming you mean "links" and not "keywords". I don't know exactely how many links we have, that would involve counting them 1 by 1 (the keywords). There is over 900 bidded keywords though. Near the beginning of March there was well over 5000 keywords, but when I added the Sponsored Listings feature I was forced to reset all keywords, however members and funds remained the same, and the hits didn't really drop off. If I had to make a guess, I would say around %10 of all keywords bidded on are unique URL's, so therefore around 100.

Thanks,

What I was referring to was the actual URL's held in your database.

Hello everyone,

I've had several e-mails regarding this site, but no serious bids as of yet. If I don't get any serious bids Sunday, March 24th, i'm going to put this site up for sale on eBay. I will post to URL to the ebay site here if that happens. If your interested in making a bid before that happens, e-mail me at bids@searchbud.com.

Thanks for your interest,
Adam de Jaray

You might want to check out http://gethighforums.com/Forum19/HTML/000587.html. There's a person there looking for a PPC Search Engine website.

(Am I allowed to post a URL to another forum?)

Yep, while it would be wonderful if we had everything to offer everyone, it isn't possible (and the point is to get people help, whether that be here or elsewhere).

That's good... I'm going to have to find some time to read the rules though :).

Hello all,

Just an update as to the status of bidding. As of right now i've had 4 individuals contact me expressing 'serious' interest in the site, and I have also recieved 2 bids. I've decided not to release the amount of the bids in these forums, however I will release the bid prices to individuals who contact me privately via e-mail and show some serious interest in purchasing the site. I will say (in public) that both bids we're over $300 (which is all i'm currentely considering). I plan to sell the websites on or before Sunday, March 24th to the individual(s) who have made the highest bid and/or the individual(s) who have expressed serious considerations and have provided proof they will beable to make payment for the amount bidded. If anyone is able to make me an offer of $600 or more before sunday, and provide proof of payment, I will remove the site from sale and sell to him/her. To make a bid for the site, or if you have any questions/comments please feel free to e-mail me at Bids@SearchBud.com

Thanks,
