Hey,

I'm looking for a project to work on.... for free. I just want to work with some guys/girls that can help me learn PHP, MySQL, general web design/development and server admin.

I'm also interested in GUI development, and software development in general though that is not related to this board.

-I know C well.
-I have some experience in C++, PHP, and MySQL.
-I have experience in Dreamweaver, Flash, and several content management systems.
-If some of you were in the PHP-Nuke scene about a year ago you might remember fox-hunt.net. I was the webmaster.
-I'm the creator and former sole developer of FoxServ (http://sourceforge.net/projects/foxserv/) apache/mySQL/PHP (and now Perl too, though not from my efforts) win32 installer

I'm just looking for something, starting in the summer, I can put ~1-2 hours a day into and learn some new skills at the same time.

The key here is I want some help in learning... so I'm really looking for some experts that need a helping hand.

PM me if you are interested.
Thanks

So let me get this right, you're looking for a teacher (for free)?

LOL, just what I read into it.

Just to let you know a great deal of us are self taught and have learned the hard way by F****** up. You also learn from those mistakes as well.

If you want to bounce ideas off of people then here and www.were-here.com are good places. Be WARNED..the people on www.were-here.com in some cases think they are the ****zu when it comes to design and or development so you have to have a tough skin to post there.

Think of a concept and build it on your own. Post it here for review and then you start going down a track learning.

Those of us that have like 1- to 15 years doing this stuff dont have the time tto teach for free. Plus we have learned that if you give something away for free that, you keep giving it away.

Good luck in your quest for education, but learning it on your own with minor guidence from the community will asssit you further in the long run.

I'm a computer engineer. Not a web designer, web programmer, etc.

This is just a hobby for me. I have been teaching myself but I have nothin to apply my work to. Right now I learn because I want to, but I don't really have anything to apply it. I'm just looking for something that can give me a goal.

Set it for yourself. We have all done that in one way or another. Think of a concept and bring it to life. This will encompass all areas of the web. Graphics, design, programming, usability ect.
