I have a large number of domains that I want statistics on, primarily type-ins and link traffic. What are the best options for getting this information? Would having my own DNS server be of assistance?

Well, if the domains aren't DNS'ed to something, it might be hard to get the stats. I'm not sure if there is some service you can use to get stats without having to set up pages for each site. I seem to recall that one of the DNS services offered this, but not entirely sure.

Going the most obvious route, setting up the domains on a server with one page, a page with either a stats counter, or you could use stats scripts that are either installed or that you install. I realize you are probably looking for the quickest and easiest thing to accomplish the goal. Not sure what that would be exactly...

I'm not sure what you call a large number of domains, but in my case, I have 140 odd domains that I monitor through individual sites that I have set using a reseller account at Voxtreme.

On each page I have some javascript to report back to a central mysql database that records numerous items including referral/typed in traffic.

Works for me.
