As some of you know that www.registerfly.com transfers domain with a charge of $8.99. Unfortunately, i have an account with them. Transfer fee is not refundable.

On the 1st of november, i tried to transfer my domain by giving my credit card info and all that. I got a response saying that my information didnt go trough. Ok it is reasonable. It happens sometimes.

On the 2nd of november 2001, i tried it again. There was no response to that. On the 13th of november i opened a new ticket to find out what was going on. I got a response from them 5 days later, saying that "your current registrar has rejected your request to transfer. You must contact them to see why. If they have a lock on your domain, request it to be taken off. You must rerequest"

I talked to Netsol. They sais that there was no lock on my account and i went ahead and re-transfered again (of course i paid another $8.99 for that)

I waited for another week to find out what happened to my domain. Registerfly.com told me that there is a lock on my account. I talked to netsol again and they say that i can transfer my account anywhere that i want to. There is no problem on my account.

I gave up on that because i had things to do and had to take a vacation for a month. When i returned and settled down. I put $30 on my registerfly.com account to transfer a domain (thats the minumum amount of money u have to have in your registerfly.com account)

On the 13th of this month, i tried it again. This is exactly what happend. In 5 minutes, i got a automated response from registerfly.com saying that my transferring is canceled because there was a lock on my account. IN 5 minutes !!!! I have done transferring before with other companies but have never seen like this. Anyways, i called netsol again to find out what really was going on. They again told me that there was no lock on my account (day before that i called netsol to change my password and everything was working. They even sent me an confirmation email to my email box).

Netsol told me that i had to get a NIC tracking number. Since march 13th i have sent 3 email and made two phone calls to registerfly.com, to find out what the NIC tracking number of my transaction was. In 5 days, they have neither responded my email nor responded my phone calls.

On three transferring attempts they did not give me any tracking number and tell me how this was being done.

I have lost nearly $27 for this transfer issues. I sent another ticket to them saying that "thats why it is not refundable so that u can give your customers a quick cancelation reponse in 5 mins to get the money." There is no response to that either. I told them i gave up on this issue and i want what is left in my account back. No response to that either.

What should i do. I need some answers from experienced people. Where should i report them.

Thank you in advance !

Well, it seems you might want to try to transfer it elsewhere. If it didn't work the first two times, you're just beating yourself up to try it over and over. Something is amuck, not sure if ti is with NetSol or RegFly, but it would make sense to take one of them out of the equation and try it (and you can't take NetSol out so....).

Sorry you have been bitten here, but first off, you should never have used a registrar who charges you for a transfer even if it does not go through.

Roughly 60% of our NetSol transfers fail on the first attempt. Sometimes they work the second time - many more times we have to tweak them [MetSol] a bit.

They generally do go through, but rarely the first time. If your registrar takes $9 from you every time that you attempt a transfer, with NetSol domains and 2-5 transfer requests before it finally goes through - you are out quite a bit.

There are plenty of reasonably priced registrars who do not charge you if your transfer fails to "take." Select one of these and try again. If you still want to transfer back to registerfly from one of these, wait 60 days and you can probably transfer away from most without problems. There are some registrars other than NetSol who can put you into transfer-loops, but there are plenty who do not.

Good luck,

I know if you request a credit to Registerfly for a failed transfer they almost ALWAYS give it. I have used many of the other registrars and they are the most flexible in working with you.

First, it is doubtful you'd be able to cancel the registration mostly anywhere, so it would have been better to ask this before purchasing your domain. Luckily, you can host it on your computer (though there are many reasons not to).

I don't want to get into exactly how you'd do this, as that is another thread (and most likely has been covered before).

The computer that hosts your website on has nothing to do with where your domain is registered. It's all about where and how you define your DNS records for your domain.

If your computer has a static IP address, then any DNS server will work.

If your computer has a dynamic DNS address, you'll need to set up with a Dynamic DNS server, and appropriate client software on your computer.

Can you start a thread in the main (top) forum, as this really isn't the place you'll get tons of answers regarding this subject. Just post that you have a domain and you'd like to host the site on your home PC, etc.
