Hi,
I have some domains with UK Web Solutions Direct, and some with other companies. I have intermittent connections problems with the UKWSD domains. When I do a tracert I get "Unable to resolve target system name" some of the time. Other times they work ok. This is on different PC's with different ISP's. They work one day, the next they don't. UKWSD have been looking in to this for a while but are so far at a loss as to the cause. Any ideas?

They're new domains registered with UKWSD.

Are they with the same host?
It's normally the host at fault.
When it's down, go to www.dnsstuff.com, and do an A record lookup on the domains, and see where it fails- if it fails at all.

If they are new, the problem could be with the DNS propagation...usually takes minutes, but in some times it can take hours or days( one or two )

DNS propagation shouldn't be intermittent.
Once the ISP has the dns records, he should be fine.

Hi,
Yes they're all on the same host. An A record lookup at dnsstuff.com reports "Couldn't resolve DNS server name/IP".

Ah, that's intresting.
Can you give me the domain names involved, and i'll look take a look.

This is quite intresting.
The nameservers wouldn't happen to be ns3-ns4.meinhosting.com?
I have seen this problem before.
Are the domains having problems .co.uk domains?
Do your .com's work fine?

They're all .info domains, one being markgraves.info

This is very intresting indeed.
This is another ISP that seems to go to 205.205.205.205.

Searching for markgraves.info A record at ns2.mgpages.co.uk. [205.205.205.205]: Error: Couldn't resolve DNS server name/IP [ns2.mgpages.co.uk][11004].

I've also had this problem.

Searching for bidfor.co.uk A record at ns4.meinhosting.com. [205.205.205.205]: Error: Couldn't resolve DNS server name/IP [ns4.meinhosting.com][11004].

Here's my suggestion.
Add an A record inside your BIND nameserver for ns1.mgpages.co.uk and ns2.mgpages.co.uk. The A record being the IP of the nameserver

Hi,
My hosting company have just said they've resubmitted my nameservers in "glue" format, but that ns1 is working fine.

This seems to have fixed the problem and all domains are now working. Thanks for your help.
