View Full Version : How quickly should email be available?
BooBoo 03-18-2002, 05:25 PM I have a RaQ3i that we used strictly for our email. As we are moving to a new location, we have moved the RaQ3i to the new location. As we have changed ISP, I moved the server to the new location, and changed the IP address, gateway, etc. My question is that after making this change, how soon can we start getting emails. Also, when I tested the email, via outlook express 6, I get the following errors during receiving and sending emails:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.getadeal.com', Server: 'pop3.getadeal.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.getadeal.com', Server: 'pop3.getadeal.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
:crap:

Have you changed dns for pop3.getadeal.com to point to that new IP?
Did you lower TTL before doing so? - If not, what was the old TTL?
If you ping the pop3.getadeal.com address from your own workstation - do you get the new or old IP address?

I cannot find the named.conf file that contains pop3.getadeal.com

Old address
BooBoo 03-18-2002, 07:22 PM I found the file to change on the DNS server. I changed that file. I think that I have changed everything that I can change. Last question, after changing this file, do I need to do anything else, like compile, save, make, etc?
