View Full Version : My host can't set up cron jobs, what can I do?

I've been unable to get a cron job set up with my web host (well I need 7 AM, they only do 4 AM). The host suggested I find a service that will request that URL at whatever time each morning. Anybody know of any such sites that will do that?

There is this site :

Webcron.org translated on Google (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.webcron.org%2F&langpair=fr%7Cen&hl=en&prev=%2Flanguage_tools)

If you try it please post what its like, I was going to use it myself but don't need it now, still interested it in though.

there are a number of PERL scripts that mimic cron tabs, have a search at www.cgi-resources.com or www.hotscripts.com

ditto on this one. Hotscripts in particular has a few that I've seen in the past. It escapes me where I saw them but if you use their search function and look for 'cron job' or something similar you should get a few results.

Err, any reason your host is against allowing you to set one up?
