View Full Version : My comment for LightOne service is POSITIVE

As I have read a certain threads about LightOne service for a couple of days, I think I have to say something true in my personal experience with LightOne.

No offense, I am mature and we just discuss the fact, without personal attack or comment to anyone or companies here.

BEFORE SALES
==========

I remember I ordered a dedicated server at Ligheone in mid-Jan., before the order, I PMed Chris about my need and he responsed me in a customer-side (promise to do for me for free). I think it's a good deal so finally ordered a server. However, for over 1 week, I still can't get the server and slow/no email responses, so I am anger and you can search my complaint in this forum.

Finally, I asked him to setup the server before the end of Jan. or I would switch to other co., then he asked me to fill in the payment form and eventually, nearly the last minute, I got the server.

So in conclusion, you may find hard to launch their services, both colocation or dedicated service. However, how about their service after I got the server?

AFTER SALES
=========

I know Chris prefers IM rather than Email, so I always sent IM to him about the problems I had. Sometimes, I got no response (maybe due to the time zone), when I got response, he can always solved my problem, e.g. IPs, Server setup... However, I remembered last time they changed their data center, the down time was much more than I expected. Again, you can search and find my complaint in this forum. After moved to the new data center, as far from Feb. till now, I seldom find any connection problem.

COMMENT
=======

I don't meet Chris before, so I cannot argue whether he is a kid or not, but when I called or IMed him, I always got nice response. I think he is a really busy guy (maybe this is his part-time job?) but when you get connected with his hosting services, you will think this is a good try. Just don't demand too much support from him, make sure you can manage your own server well. Also, give him pressure to setup the service is a good KEY to get connected. Phone him everyday, ask him the progress! (Sorry Chris, I may make more trouble to you :D)

I spoke with Chris a while back regarding a dedicated server he was selling on EBay he was very freindly on the phone and was pretty helpful.. I emailed him about 3 weeks later seeing if the application I was told would be available soon was available not once, not twice, not three times but four times and NEVER got a reply.. That to me is unacceptable so I had to look elseware.. Too bad though because his prices are were great.

Friendly service doesn't always equal good service. What good is friendly service if things take too long to get done, if they get done at all? What good is friendly service without good communication? I shouldn't have to threaten to leave to get things done. Note: These are just general comments and not directed towards LightOne specifically.

Yes Toasty, I agree with you, many web hosting staff (even large hosting co.) have this communication error, just reply a few words to explain the specific situation or even no reply. It's not the attitude they should have!

I would suggest to stay away from them. Shurely you will find a host that gives you much better service and communication for the same price or maybe less.

Could this be an example of a provider that sells dedicated servers but doesn't have them? That's what it sounds like to me and I've had it happen to me before.

I personally keep dedicated servers ready for order, but not that many.

No I think they actually have the servers they just cant keep up of something. When I spoke to Chris the first time he offered to do a payment plan to own a server if I wanted. Kind of like efreeservers but again this was a long time ago.

When they were colocated at 9netave a couple of years ago, they were nothing but a few kids stirring up trouble on IRC and causing themselves to become quite a DoS target. Hopefully they've cleaned up their image since.

I'm currently got a dedicated server with them about 1 month. I'd like to say that the speed is ok and not too many problems during the period.

However, these three days, the speed is going down and even though it is going to time out now! I try to contact them but never got response.

How can I do. I dont know. just keep waiting and waiting . my website is cut down and my money is lost...

Come on Chris and lightone. Solve my problems. The first period is past and if you dont do something , I'll plan to change to other services and refuse your rebill.

That's all.

My ip address 66.28.178.18

That was Light1.net. Not LightONE.

My apologies... the descriptions sounded the same and I didn't realize it was that common a name. Hopefully others have not made the same mistake, as their supposed reputation would precede them.

Yeah, xingan, you said my point. Their whole network is down and they don't have 24/7 network monitoring!!! Wait for Chris to know the problem, wait for him to understand and solve it, maybe we have to wait for another 24 hours!

emmm

but seemed that http://www.lightone.net is working fine.

That's ip to 66.28.11.64

I try to call them by 800 every 30 minutes. Yesterday I have been told that should leave message in box. Today I just got "The services is not available now."

Crying.

I register my website to Search Engine these days. It will make my website to unavailable and not be taken.

lightone.net is working fine because they are located in another data center, that's why I said Chris may till now, still doesn't know our websites are down, cause his site is up!

The whole 66.28.178.X block is down while another block 66.28.11.X is up.

It's not surprised that the voice box is full, I doubt Chris will listen the voice box while he is having his Sunday holiday :rolleyes:

I think he really needs to setup some 24/7 network monitoring system after this case, this should be the basic system we need in a data center!

After 2 hours up time, the network is down again.

:(

I just doubt if they have backbones or another provider to use when cogent is down.

my website is down again.

Chris is not taking the phone since more than one week. Do you know why? Because he owes me $3000! We have spend at least $250 the last week in unnecesary phone calls (4 or more times per hour). The last time i got somebody on the phone (1 week ago), it was his girlfriend (i guess) lying to me the same way he did.
But be all prepared for the big bomb. As i said, now i know much more about him and it seems that we get the sheriff's office at Jeffco involved today. That sounds familiar to you Chris, doesn't it?

I'm really disappointed about what Chris's services, about 24 hours downtime with not more than 2 hrs uptime, he cannot be contacted via phone, he is not online via ICQ and AIM, he even doesn't answer my email, on the other hand, I received tons of complaints from my customers. Now, I'm really anger :angry:
